I absolutely abhor exercise. It is an honorary '4 letter' word, right up there with iron. You know, I actually get ...sweaty. Ewwww
But, I figured some time back that I could do anything for 30 days. At the end of those 30 days I would earn a charm link for my charm bracelet. The first was a cloisonne tennis shoe.
Then, another 30 days. And another.. Now I put humongous colored stars on my kitchen calendar which I could see to tweak my memory.
After awhile awhile I started feeling a wee bit guilty if a day approached bedtime and no exercise. I would trudge downstairs and then do the 'dreadmill' or the AirDyne. Usually, I walked outside. Rain or shine (hey, I am washable and do not shrink when wet). We have a huge dog which makes me stretch my legs when I walk him.
As of today, I have completed 240  consecutive days of exercise!
That is 8 months, and 8 charms on my bracelet!
Now I have done exercise under adverse and unusual conditions. When riding the bike, making laps around the rest stop parking lots. Using gyms in hotels (I have a very funny story about one trip there), talking people's dogs for walks when visiting them, but I kept going. No excuses, I kept going.
A week and a half ago I had major, reconstructive, surgery. I was up at 0300 and on the AirDyne so it would be done before reporting to the medical hobby shop at 0600.
The next day? As soon as the doctors let me up, I am tottering around the hallways pulling my IV trolley with one hand and a latte' in the other! I was NOT going to let this get me down.
Now, if I could just use this determination to get back, completely, on the wagon and lose wgt. Sigh.
Right now I am using resistance bands also, working those shoulder muscles.
