Momentum verses motivation (a repost from cl-diane)...

Momentum versus Motivation.......Well,.....m Board: 100 Pounds or More to Go Date: Nov 17, 05:21 pm EST From: cl-dianez1

there is nothing that motivates you like success! If you are looking for that big light bulb to turn on in your head, forget it! If you are looking for applause from the people around you, forget that too! You either want to do this or you don't! If you do, just start doing something you know you can keep up. Don't sucker yourself into trying to get the hard stuff out of the way. It doesn't get any easier as you go along. Make up your mind right from the start that you have to have patience to win this war! Make everything you do as easy as you can for yourself. Each time you do one of the "easier" things, it gives you more self confindence to try the next harder one and keep going. Each time you succeed with a little goal the big goals get closer. Maybe we should just forget the word "motivation" and replace it with the word "momentum". If you start a ball rolling down a hill, the "momentum" will keep it going. No amount of talking to it or cheering it on will motivate that ball to roll. Someone has to reach out and give it that first push. Give yourself that first push by tackling little parts of your plan and getting them right. That success will keep your momentum going! That success will make you feel good about yourself! That success builds on top of other successes so you have a little fallback room when things don't go so well....it'll give you the power to begin again and start that old ball rolling again. The success gives you the confidence to see that even if you are "only" doing a little better each day than the day before, you are moving in the right direction and you can stop obsessing about the end of the road and start enjoying the journey itself! We all need to move ourselves with success and get the momentum building--------Motivation? I am no longer sure what that word means. I think it has become as much of a myth as "will power". Just roll up your sleeves and start doing something right each day and the success will build the momentum to carry you along!

You can do this! You have the POWER!! Expect to Succeed and YOU WILL!!

Diane
