"We don't deal much in facts when we are contemplating ourselves."
Mark Twain We who are fighting this great war with weight, health, and life style change are extremists. We spend a lot of time telling ourselves what a great job we are doing when in our hearts we know we are not doing as well as we really could if we made the choice to do our best each time. We also spend a lot of time beating ourselves up for thing that really weren't as tragic as we make them our to be. We forget to give ourselves that permission to be human. We forget to learn to forgive imperfection and take what we can get. We see to have a great deal of trouble deciding if things are just happening to us that make it hard to stick to our plans, or if we are just total wipeouts who can't do anything right in the first place.
Maybe it's part of the eating problems we do have. This inability to decide what's good for us and what's not leads us to ignore the size of the portions we are consuming of even good healthy food. This same problem has lead us to try to starve ourselves into submission in the past leaving behind only the psychic scars and damaged metabolisms that we deal with now.
How come each of us here can come up with solutions for our sisters on the board but we can't help ourselves? We are able to accept the advice given us by anyone with common sense, but fail to recognize that quality in our own makeup?
We need to take a good look and realize no one knows us better than US. We are each worthwhile people with goals and dreams of our own that are admirable and heroic! We have to build up that self esteem to the point where we can trust, believe in, forgive, and love ourselves!!
Think about this and write yourself a dialog in your journal. Tell yourself you are at least as good as any other person on earth and you derserve the best life you can make for yourself. Reach for those little successes and then build on them--Build yourself a wonderful life filled with the things YOU love!
Let's prove this quote false!!!
