Before

After 10 years of bad eating habits, Jane and her husband, Paul, had a big task ahead of them when they decided to lose weight. But with Weight Watchers, they collectively lost 164.6 pounds!

August 29, 1998, is a Saturday morning that will forever be etched in my mind. Robbie, the receptionist at my first Weight Watchers meeting, weighed me in and wrote 247.2 in my book. She smiled at me and very kindly wished me luck. Talk about anchors: That memory will aid me forever.

At the time, my husband, Paul, and I had been married 27 years and were both about to turn 50. When I talked him into going to Weight Watchers with me, he said we'd have to take it slow ?it would take several years to undo what the last 10 years had done. We ate junk, drank a case of Pepsi per week, and had the house filled with cake, cookies and desserts. The only thing I had used water for was to take showers and wash clothes and dishes. Exercise was foreign ?I could barely bend over to pick something up off the floor.

But as the weeks progressed we found success, making the plan part of our daily lives. We learned how to eat well. I followed the plan, exercised and drank my water. Vegetables became a staple on my plate ?I even came to enjoy them. Holidays became less food oriented, and more people oriented.

My husband, Paul, who also met his weight goal, coached me through all the way, and I lost 109.6 pounds. My life changed in many ways. People didn't know me ?they would walk right by. I went from a size 2X to a size 8. I am able to sit on the floor and not be embarrassed by needing help to get up. I went from being the heaviest to the smallest in my family. It is a wonderful feeling. This plan has been a blessing.
