My weight never went over 190 pounds in my life but losing weight is still hard no matter how much weight you have to lose.  In January 2000 I was in a serious car accident with injuries to my upper and lower back and whiplash.  I recovered over a one year period, returning to only part time work and my weight went from 140 to 187 pounds.  I knew I had to lose weight but had no incentive to go to the gym.  A friend who had talked me into going never wanted to go and doing it alone was boring.

Just before my 50th birthday I decided to try to lose weight... I lost a few pounds.  But after seeing myself in the birthday video I was horrified at what I saw.   A friend at work who was also overweight gave me some notes on Weight Watchers Points and that peaked my interest.  In the first six weeks I lost 11 pounds, in the first three months 20 pounds... I felt great and so proud of myself.  People started to notice the weight loss, my health improved.

However after the twenty pounds, the loss stopped and no matter what I did I lost no more weight.  I took a few months off, maintained what I had lost and decided to trek on to lose more weight.  Now two years after making that decision I have lost a total of 42 pounds with a goal of ten more to go.  Those last ten pounds are going to be a struggle... I will not give up.

Chris
