Lil chilly,
give this doctor a call, he's in the city but that's not too far if he's as good as he says he is, I wrote him a letter but I didn't get a chance to call him yet. Let me know how you make out as I'm on the jersey shore and I may be able to put you in touch with someone, but try dr.nathan first. check the info below.

hey lil chilly,

isnt the world of addiction medicine such a kind one????? actually all medicine for that matter!!!!!!   that is soooooo infuriating....my blood is boiling for you, but dont relapse because of this jerk-off.
doctors sure do have a god complex, although there are the very rare few who are truly good people, in doctors clothing.

o.k.  i know there are a few nurses out there besides me who may have some better ideas, but heres my call:
GET A LIST OF DOCTORS IN YOUR AREA QUICKLY(OFF THE WEB, UNDER THE SAMHSA BUPEDOC LOCATER).IT WILL FIND ALL DOCS IN YOUR AREA THAT ARE PERSCRIBING.

TELL THEM OF YOUR SITUATION, AND HOW DIRE IT IS.  GIVE THE DOCTORS NAME AND ANY RECORD YOU HAVE OF SEEING HIM....LIKE A RECEIPT AND THE BOGUS SCRIPT.

GET A PRINTOUT FROM YOUR PHARMACY SHOWING THAT YOU HAVE BEEN TAKING THIS MED ON A REGULAR BASIS.  IT WILLHAVE THE DOCTORS NAME AND DEA # ON IT.  PROOF THAT YOU HAVE BEEN UNDER TREATMENT FOR SOME TIME.

CALL THE FIRST DOCTOR YOU WENT TO THAT WAS NOT FLEXIBLE AND GET A COPY OF YOUR RECORDS FROM HIM....HE WILL HAVE THEM ON FILE EVEN IF HE SENT THEM TO THIS OTHER QUACK.

REPORT THIS GUY IMMEDIATELY TO THE NJ BOARD OF PHYSICIANS.  THEY ALSO CAN PROVIDE HELPFUL INFO, AND SEE IF THIS GUY IS LEGIT.  HE SOUNDS A LITTLE SHADY.....EVEN IF HE DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH BUPE PATIENTS(THEY CAN ONLY HAVE 30 AT A TIME ANYWAY)  HE MUST HAVE A REGULAR PATIENT BASE SOMEWHERE. IM SORRY I COULDNT THINK OF ANY THING MORE CONCRETE, BUT WITH A DOSING RECORD FROM THE PHARMACY, YOU SHOULDNT HAVE A HARD TIME ESTABLISHING THE FACT THAT THIS IS NOT NEW FOR YOU.  ALSO TRY FOR THOSE FIRST SET OF TREATMENT RECORDS, THAT SHOULD REALLY HELP.

GOOD LUCK....AND ILL WRITE BACK IF SOMETHING ELSE COMES TO ME.

BETH

Dear Claude and Lil Chilly,
I am amazed how all of you pull together to get a problem solved.  Claude how wonderful it is that you care enough to find a doctor for lil chilly.  Lil Chilly how lucky you are that you have friends like this.  It is truely God working.  I am so amazed.  And to think that the straight people in this world think with there preaching that they have all the answers.  Much love to you both, Karen

hey, chill,

does this doctor still have the same office? or did he move? if he does have
the same office i would go there IN PERSON. don't leave until you get the
answers you need. you may have already thought of that. if he did leave,
NICELY question the doctors in the other offices to find out where he is.
unfortunately when it comes to treating addicts we are not priority and i
feel often treated with this "they did it to themself and they deserve to
suffer" attitude. if i hear "it's par for the course" ONE MORE TIME
concerning withdrawl symptoms i'm going to go nuts. I'd love to hear a
doctor tell a cancer patient looking for help for the side effects of
chemotherapy "it's par for the course. suffer."

I would also call the AMA concerning this doctor. The fact that he turned
off his pager and the ill-written scripts tell me something is wrong, and he
sounds like he is in trouble for something.

Pathetic advice, i know, but please hold on and don't give up. When you are
doing the right thing something will happen to help you.

Thanks Beth,

Your advise is right on the mark! I never thought of getting a list from the pharmacy, or from my first doc for that matter. What a revelation, this actually means I can have some sort of record of my progress to show a new doctor and I won't have to go through all that expensive induction phase of the treatment again! I guess I was in such shock at the abandonment of Dr. Pitts that I wasn't thinking past getting revenge on that incompetent jerk! Thanks for helping me see clearly again! I just got so mad and narrow minded that I didnt see this obvious course of action, I'd like to smack myself in the head hehe! See, anger gets you nowhere! and I must say that you'd make a great detective girl! many thanks - Chilly <>< Peace

Dear Alesia,

You are absolutely right! We "addicts" are friggin stigmatized and are of "no-account" in some doctors eyes, obviously in Dr. Pitts eyes, since he went and abandonded me. I wonder if he would have thought twice if I had cancer? No because he knew he would be sued, I wonder what makes him think I won't? Anyway enough with anger, it gets you nowere right? Need to concentrate on moving on and getting back on treatment. Beth gave me some great advice which you can read on this board and I will follow up with that. Also I am contacting the Center for Substance Abuse to report this doctor, and any other agency I can think of including the NJ state board of physicians. This man should not be allowed to practice in this manner! I will also contact AMA NJ as you suggested. When I get new information on this matter I will post the results here in case anyone else out there experiences "patient abandonment" like I did. This doc seemed shady from the first, I bet he is on the run for something no doubt. Oh and by the way - your advice is not pathetic, it is good advice and it shows you have a kind heart to help someone in need. Thank you - Lil chilly! <>< Peace

hey lil chilly,

no thanks needed....i hate when this kind of stuff happens. one of my doctors  did that to me a couple of months ago, and i know he was in trouble.  he was a real nice guy, but got a lotta people hooked on stuff, like stadol and benzos.
he truly believed that these people needed the meds he was giving out, and they probably did.  but one thing leads to another and the abuse potential is there...so the regs came down on him and the suits started rolling in and he went far, far, away.    anyhooo, enough rambling, i was very upset, but i needed to stop that particular med anyway.

however in your case, this guy knew you needed this to continue on a normal path of living, and purposely deceived you!!!!!  thats completely unethical.

chilly, i wish you the best in solving this problem...and keep me posted on your progress ok?

anger can be good sometimes too.....that is the normal response to a situation like this.

your friend
beth
