Here's the prob: our customer service center looks like a garbage dump every morning.  Does anybody else have this phenomena?  The overnight ICS have been told it is not their job to empty the cart of merchandise they have acquired while zoning at night so they take the carts to the customer service area and dump them.  Usually this entails simply leaving the cart filled with soup to nuts to chemicals to bedding and bath room supplies in the same cart.  Ours is a Super Ctr so there are over 5 carts every night with as many as 16 sometimes plus full bins when the day shift gets there at 7 am.  Has anyone else managed to stop this practice, or has anyone else sent in pictures to the marketing managers?   Please tell me ours is not the only one with this prob.  It is really digusting to have to dig out spoiled meat or spilled dairy from clothing, etc.

YEP that is what we were told... its coming in the near future..... HO is supposed to "regulate" how much stuff we get for the 4 ways.. I am sorta looking forward to this.... I either have to many features or not enough... hm... maybe during the remodel... our aisles will be another 4 foot long.... to compensate the no action alley ???

The action alleys now have benches in them for customers. The features are now on the ends of ailes on stack bases, they replaced end caps.It looks really nice. Lots of oprn space for customers to group and talk, just like a mall now.

ditto on your post. They do the same thing at our store.....To make the problem worse management pushes a buggy around on their morning tour and zones and then leaves the zone cart at the SD adding it to the rest of the zone carts for the poor girl working up there to sort........Sometimes they even dump breakpacks into carts and push those up there also. At Christmas time this is really bad as you cant even find the SD let alone get a customer in there. Also add to it the fact they park Dept 82 skids up there anf leave them.......Oh well life at Wal-Mart.....I just think they should make 3rd shift more accountable as we wouldn't be allowed to do the same thng on 1st or 2nd shift  Oh well just venting,,,,Thanks

Whoa!  There is something very wrong with stores that have buggies of crap blocking the Service Desk at 7 am.  It's normal at my store for them to have no more than 3 partial buggies to sort, when I come in at 7.  I leave nothing for 2nd shift to put up, and 3rd shift leaves nothing for me.  If 3rd is overwhelmed and can't get all their returns/claims/out of area items taken care of , I tell them to leave it for me.   It sounds to me, as if your mgmt team needs to step up to the plate.

And, what's the deal with "no 4 ways?"  Last Christmas I was "allowed' to have a 4 way for my pet items, and I sold a ton of dog sweaters.  I see keeping dog sweaters in stock as a service to my customers whose dogs need sweaters.  Some of you may think sweaters are silly, but shorthaired dogs get chilly, no matter how big they are.  My Dalmatian hated to go outside when it was cold and rainy, so I made him a coat.  He didn't mind going out with his coat on.
So, again, no 4 ways??!!
Our HBA dept has SIX.

It seems that the 4-ways being taken away is already happening in some stores.  We were told that "eventually" the 4 ways will be gone to make action alley more shopper friendly.  HO was to adjust the amount of features that were sent in.
HBA has currently 4  4ways, cosmestics has two but one was taken away due to spacing... we used to be 4ft apart, now we are 10 ft apart.  Plus they moved all the 4ways down towards the garden center to put two hideous back to school left overs in our areas.  Ugghhh.... I really hate this job!

Thanks for the info, oba.  What happens to all the stackbases?  We have a train of them between Pets and the grocery side.  The HO determines what has to go there--and my stuff is never one of the features, even though most of my dept faces action alley.  I hate being near grocery.

there is only one piece of that train left... plus there is the calendar mod so these two items took one of my 4ways....

Hold on to your hats Ladies,The new floor plane for Walmart is 6ft wide main aisle with nothing notta zilch zip zero, maybe a bench for are guest to rest on.

the features will go where end caps use to be.It is called a waterfall now.eight foot stack base that rises up to a four foot top.No shelves just product stacked on top of it's self. Sort of like a prymid. From the side view it looks like steps, from the front, sort of a watterfall.

I know this has nothing to do with the Courtesy Desk...but I have posted a pic I took at the 29th Ave. SW store (#2716) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  They have completely ditched their 4-ways.  It looks spacious (SO not used to it...i prefer the 4-ways, IMHO...), and it looks fine but what I CANNOT stand is them arches (Some may see them in Domestics with the "Better Homes & Gardens" signange hanging from them....thank God our store doesn't have them either lol..) that hang the toppers.  It doesn't look ghetto, but it is TACKY!!!!!  They need to come up with a better solution.  What's your guys' and gals' input on what you see in the picture?  Oh and BTW, I think there is such a thing as too wide of an action alley (Target has the correct width for their mainways...).  Thanks!

Nate
