A FARM owner was shocked when a London couple holidaying on her land in South East Cornwall asked her to remove a flock of sheep from the field ?as they were being too noisy.

Julie Tamblyn runs holiday accommodation on Botelet Farm near Herodsfoot with her brother and parents.

The farm also has two Mongolian yurts in the surrounding fields which are let out to guests, including the couple from the capital.

Julie was surprised when the man asked her to move the animals because his partner couldn't sleep.

She said: "When I go to a city I expect to hear traffic and planes, they are sounds of the city. This is where the sheep live and it is a sound of the countryside."

The 250-acre farm has been owned by the Tamblyn family for four generations.

About 100 sheep live in the field where the couple stayed, and on the farm's website it clearly states the field is grazed by sheep.

The yurts offer an alternative to traditional accommodation and are designed to give visitors a first hand taste of the countryside under canvas.

  • I went camping for the first time in years recently, it rained hard all night and the rain kept me awake. Perhaps I should have made a phone call up above to ask for it to be stopped, but instead, I lay back and relaxed. No, I didn't sleep all night, but it was so different to not sleeping because there's loads on your mind. I am just investing in earplugs!!

  • Very funny story, This proves that the UK are full of people who cant just be happy, they need to complain to have fulfilled lives. Holiday means relax, go with the flow, what would they do if they went to France, ask everybody to speak English because they don't understant the language. What did they expect from a farm?
