Greetings To all of you in L&S that are not posting, I just wanted to know why you do not post and support L&S? What keeps you away? I am sad to see things so silent and wanted to remind you of the L&S policies of posting to stay a member...please let me know what is keeping you away. I am really sad to see that no one is coming here anymore and would like to know what would help to make it more appealing to you. It is so painful to see that no one comments or gets involeved in the little things I have put up to try to help you have something to talk about and get some interaction going again..I miss you all so much and would really like to know what is going on. Please post your opinions as I am really puzzled at why there is no longer anyone wanting to come here. I want to know ..good or bad... I know most people come directly to the boards to read, and most probably only check the General section, but there is SO much more!! Most of the facilitators try their best to update their sections daily. There is SO much valuable information here, that I've found myself lately coming here first to look for something before doing a web search! | According to the mundane dictionary, a "coven" is a gathering of 13 witches. A Coven is actually a group of individuals who BOND together in a common goal to achieve goals set up by the group that has ideals toward a positive outcome. Often defined as their "Tradition" these ideals focus on a code of conduct to achieve these goals. Some are sacred and not shared, others are well known and standard ethical practices. Some are more open armed than others. The tradition of light and shadows is one of group involvement, self-evolvement and dedication to make a positive difference in the world through commitment, communication, and a coopertive effort of action through both mundane and magickal means. What exactly IS the Tradition of Wicca that is practiced at Light and Shadows? In 1974, the Council of American Witches in Minneapolis defined modern Witchcraft in terms of the American experience. Many Wiccan Traditions are still using modified versions of the original tenets. The following set of Philosophy and Beliefs come from the Light & Shadows Tradition as formed with that as a guideline...there have been a few changes made to suit our personal tradition. The primary focus of Light & Shadows is to practice Wicca as religion whose purpose is to put our members in harmony with the Divine Creative Principle of the Cosmos and its manifestations at all levels. Our secondary goal is to work at the Craft of Wicca, which is to achieve practical ends by psychic means for good, useful, healing and ethical purposes. Witchcraft’s distinguishing characteristics are it's Nature based attitude, small group autonomy and the philosophy of creative polarity at all levels, from Goddess and God to Priestess and Priest. We believe in one source of divinity, termed the Divine or Deity, which is formless and infinite. We believe in a Higher source known to be the Goddess which goes by many names and is also unnamed and the God as Her partner and consort which also has many names according to pantheon of the Goddess and also may go unnamed as our source of divinity. Each person within the coven work with their own patron God & Goddess and as a group we work with many according to need We see the manifestation of deity embodied in the Divine persons of the Goddess and the God. We believe that Deity manifests into the physical Universe through many different interconnected planes of existence. We honor both the feminine and masculine aspects of the Divine and work with this energy through the High Priestess, Lady Majyk Whispering-Owl, who has been ordained for more than 30 years. At this time, she has no priest at her side. We welcome couples and singles and are family oriented with many children and grandchildren of our members participating in the outer Circle. We are dedicated to the ethical practice of Wicca and to teaching the Craft to all our members. Through understanding the interconnected planes of existence, we have a realization that any Goddess is a part, or a face of, the one Goddess, and all Gods are part, or aspects of, one God; and that ultimately the God and Goddess are part of and reflections of Deity, the source of divinity. We believe that Deity is immanent within Nature, that each of us contains the essence of the Divine, and that all of creation has inherent worth as a consequence of immanence. We believe there is no separation between the Infinite and Nature, yet the infinite Deity is greater that the sum of its parts. As an Initiatory religion, we seek to understand the ways of Nature and the Universe. We believe that there is no ultimate conflict between religion and science. We practice celebratory rites to attune ourselves with the natural rhythm of life's forces, marked by the phases of the Moon and the Seasonal quarters and cross quarters. We believe in the pursuit of individual experience of Divinity, and we practice a system of worship intended to cultivate that connection. We believe that through worship of Gods and Goddesses we can develop a closer connection to the All. Since the Infinite is immanent, we see all life experience as sacred. Our beliefs give us a unique responsibility toward our environment, and we seek to live in ecological balance and harmony with Nature �?/FONT>s forces and elements. We use celebratory rituals to commemorate the life cycles evident within Nature. We recognize the patterns of the ancient alchemical elements, correspondences and symbology of Earth, Fire, Water and Air, and the fifth element of Spirit as emblems of the powers in Nature. The elements are symbols of body, intention, emotion, intellect, and immanence. We practice Magick, which is the Art and Science of causing change to occur in Conformity with Will. We recognize other planes of "Being" than just the physical one on which we reside and the powers of interaction of these planes provide the basis for paranormal phenomenon and magick. We work Magick of a positive nature with the intent to benefit the well being of all involved and we accept responsibility for the consequences of our actions. We believe that consciousness evolves through many lifetimes and gives meaning to the universe and our personal role within it. We believe that souls reincarnate in order to learn valuable lessons on the pathway to ultimate enlightenment and that the Law of Karma (or three fold return) governs which lessons are to be learned and in what manner. We seek to aid and encourage all members to progress and use self discipline to improve themselves mentally, physically, and spiritually. We seek to make our everyday life a reflection of our inner awareness. We seek to work for a better understanding of and a better relationship between man/woman, Nature, and the Infinite. We believe that through Initiation, we make a commitment to self-transformation, conscious evolution, and the journey toward enlightenment. We strive to deepen awareness and experience of the union of Nature, the God and Goddess, and the All. The Hermetic maxim, "as above ~ so below" or that the microcosm (humankind) is a miniature of the macrocosm (the Divinity) teaches us that through interlocking psychic forces, Divinity exists within each man and woman. We believe all religions have a valid place and do not seek to deny or suppress religious practices and beliefs that are different from our own. We do not proselytize, attempt to save or convert members of other religions to our beliefs, but we also do not turn away serious seekers. In the same respect, we expect our views to be respected in our circle. We share knowledge and guide seekers and dedicants through a series of lessons, discussions, and rituals while teaching the ethical use and practice of Magic to help each of us accomplish our goals. We encourage a lifelong commitment to spiritual growth, putting you in control of your own destiny by encouraging self-responsibility, self-examination, self control and dedication to the spiritual life that is the Craft. | | | The fact that there are only 5 out of the 50 members here active in this online coven and another 5 post more than occasionally, and two once in a while. The other 39 members either never look at our site or do and do nothing. I don't know about you but that reminds me of a congregation of christians. All you "lurkers" who come and read the posts and contribute nothing should be ashamed of yourselves. This is not just some partime project of a bored housewife! Lady Majyk has dedicated her LIFE to the service of the Goddess and lives her path DAILY. I've been to her home and seen her work and having to deal with flakey people who claim to be "witches", and seen it break her heart. 95% of the world's population are just existing without any purpose or goals in their lives other than to get through the day, pay their bills and be entertained as a reward for doing that. This Coven is a vast opportunity to be involved and make a difference in the world, created to enlighten the minds and hearts of soul sick people in search of some meaning to their sad existance. Those of you who are inactive are taking it for granted, much like you probably do many other things and people in your lives!!! We are on the verge of ground breaking moves to transform things and are wieghted down by apathy and laziness. My venting is NOT aimed at those who are committed and activly sharing their growth and knowlegde with the group it's aimed at the hypocrits who say one thing and do another or say nothing at all. | | | I am very sorry I have not been contributing lately. I have been very busy taking care of my little one as well as my nephew who is entering his "Terible twos" stage. On top of that, we have to be moved out of our house by the first and we have yet to find a place to go to, so we have been busy looking for a new home as well. | | | AND YET AGAIN!!!! ALL the people who have responded to this post are the only ones who are active in the coven. I applaud and appreciate you all's commitment to the coven and desire to assuage the despair felt by Lady Majyk, but it only proves that the ones to whom this post was addressed don't give a RIP about the covenship OR Lady Majyk. This post is addressed to all those who are witch wannabe's who come and read and DO NOTHING to be a part of the coven!!!!!! This was an appeal to urge those who lurk and don't take action to get off their mundane absorbed behinds and BE WITCHES in this coven. Their apathy, in my humble opinion, makes them unworthy of Lady Majyk's leadership and inspiration. So I say to all those who have never taken an ounce of time out to do anything here, since being a part of a working coven is not on your agenda for your pathwork, that being here is probably impeding your progress. You are better off without us and we are better off without you. We have important work to do and if you can't or won't do it, get out of the way so someone who is willing to be an active member of the coven can. The activities planned here is a prime example, of 50 members, we have ONE who has registered for the summer retreat. Having 50 members and only ONE person saying they want to go casts alot more negative light than saying we have 10 members and only ONE will do it. AND THERE IS NO CALL FOR IT! Lady Majyk has busted her bum working for MONTHS to prepare for a special and rewarding experience for what? Herself??? NO!!!! For YOU!!!! | | | Bright Blessings, I'm sorry about the retreat. But I have to work to pay my bills an beings they have changed my days off yet again I will not be able to attened. I'm sorry for this. I've taken way too much time off work due to my medical issues and may have to again if this isn't resolved soon. An for that I'm sorry. unless my days off change again I can. Lady Majyk, I have considered you a beloved, close and dear friend of mine for a long time now. I know that some of what I am going to say here is going to be hard for you to hear. But I also know that you intimately understand the importance of speaking one's own heart's truths and being true to oneself. Therefore, I am going to honor your request in your original post in this thread, that we should seek the truth and answers, even if they are painful ones. I am going to speak my mind, plainly and openly. I hope that once I have said my peace, you will still consider me your friend. Some of you may feel pain at these words, or anger, or maybe even nothing at all. But I will still say what I feel I must. Before I go any further, I want to make some things very clear. I am a human being that comes with all of the frailties and faults associated with being one. I feel that I have not always been the kind of example to others that I feel I should be striving to be. I've made mistakes, ommissions, and a host of other errors along the way. But I fully accept these facts and have forgiven myself for where I have fallen short of my own personal goals for myself. All I can do is look towards being the best me I can be right now. What I am going to be talking about here isn't intended to be a set of excuses for anything. There have been many mundane life events recently that have interfered with my being here more often, but I have been managing okay and have chosen not to burden others with them. The immediate needs of many people in my life who are close to me have demanded nearly all of my attentions and energy recently. Many of them are extremely ill and/or approaching the change we refer to as 'death'. With all due respect, Lady Qyzida, I think I plainly understand your feelings of anger and frustration. But it saddens me that you seem to be letting those passions rule you at times. If you want more participation, if you want more harmony, If you want more love, togetherness, and support, then simply be that. Like creates like. You should not attempt to force others or shame them into behaving as you wish. All I can sense from you right now is anger. If a coven is healthy, you won't have to force anyone to be active and present. The interactions they have with the other members of the coven will be meeting their personal needs, both spiritually and on other levels. They will be glad and happy when they can spend time with their own "special family". Some of you may be aware that before I came here, I experienced a very traumatic break with another spiritual group. Some of those wounds still ache a little from time to time, but a great deal of healing and personal growth has occurred for me since that time. Part of the process of healing has been a great amount of quiet personal introspection. There has been much that no one else could possibly help me get through. At times, I have been very silent here. Usually, this was because I was experiencing another period of difficult personal introspection and soul-searching. Often, the emotions that have come to the surface, as I have continued working with the shadow aspect of myself, were both intense and sometimes very strongly negative and choatic. During those periods, I have been silent here, not wishing to spread that type of energy to others. Only I could achieve that personal success. Only I could rediscover my own personal point of balance. I have had to search long and deep to find my own truths and my own answers as I've walked through that dark night. The memory of it has made me very cautious of allowing anyone to become that close to me again. If I ever do join another coven, it will only be after very careful consideration and my heart has to agree totally to it. To do otherwise would be to lie to myself and the group I was joining. I have been here for quite some time as a long-term guest on these outer circle boards. I have never dedicated myself as a member of Light and Shadows Coven. After these latest developments, I am not certain that I ever will. I feel that I am one of the many that you seem to be hurling your anger at, Lady Qyzida. I am not going to try to judge whether it is right or wrong. I am only going to say this: If you are feeling that way about me, it is fruitless to think that we can be effective in joining our energies, in perfect love and perfect trust, within the sacred circle. If after considering all of this, if you or Lady Majyk feel that you should remove me from your numbers here, then I think you should, for the highest good of all. It is not well and meet that there should be such division or strife amongst Her children.

I hope you will understand why I vented my frustration after you hear the reason of WHY I said what I did the way I did. I am going to be posting an announcement of that reason tomorrow. Know that I am not angry with you, nor hurt, and I still love you very much. I wish you all the happiness and peace you can find on your path wherever it leads, and hope that you'll forgive my lack of candor, but my stance was a neccessary one to accomplish the filtering of caliber of members we need to accomplish our goals; much in the same way the purification of gold has to go through the fire. | | I'm sorry. I have been sick. I will do my best to be more attentive. Dancing Feathers Maybe its because there is too many rules? You must post 3 times a week and be at these rituals etc. I know for me my family comes first. I just had a family member down with the flu last week and I had to be there for 5 days while they were down. Its starting to get nice out, school will be out shortly, people want to do things with their families. My spiritual life is important to me but my family is more imporant than me sitting here posting on a group. So I am sorry that I cannot meet all the rules of this group. I would do more if I could. I like this group, but I will ALWAYS put my family first. But, I will tell you that post like this will get me to leave here in a new york moment. I don't deserve this and I don't think any of the members here do. So I think it might be a bit better if you just took a chill pill for awhile. | Greetings Dear Ones, I am sorry to see this again gets so out of hand. It seems like everytime I ask a question, things like this happen. I have not asked anyone to have to do anything except say hi when you come online to L&S. I KNOW you all come here at least that many times a week to read the boards. Many of you commented that you read..but do not respond to anything. If that is not the case, what is wrong with saying hi once in a while, when you can??? I am not an ogre that is demanding big things I have never demanded that members come to any ritual...only the ones that are in training are required to be in attendance and that is part of their personal training. The announcements are posted for rituals and workshops to give everyone an opportunity to come for these special things. It is not a demand that you come, only an invitation... which not many bother to come to... it is all volentary...if these are not things you want..it will save all of us many, many hours of planning and writing...if you do not want them..just say so... I would never want anyone to put L&S above their family demands... but only to help you to make time for yourselves, which might include the things we offer. If that is not your wish... that is fine too... just say so... it is honored. I know things take us all away from the computer...I have had things go on in my own life that takes me away. We all have lives that are away from this group, but in the same note...is L&S not worth at least a passing "Hi"...? If this is too much, I understand if you decide to leave. I do not hold you prisiner and never would think that would ever be proper. I just enjoy all of you individually and would hope that you do not judge me so harshly when all I ask is why... everyone has their opinions and I am not the only one that notices the absence of so many. If it is sickness, we all rally and send healing energy, if it is family issues, we again try to help with a listening ear.
