There have been some trolls rooming around groups. We reported the names we had known and then on our boards posted how to report the abuse that was being sent via email and in pending applications. Next thing we knew our group was shuttered by MSN. We had thought having the group on moderation and keeping round the clock eye's on the boards and being so strict as to what was being posted graphic wise MHM would have been safe but there was a little hole we never thought about. This is why I am posting this so you all can take that extra step to protect your group. There was a list page here in MHM. It was one that we hadn't used in some time. The trolls found that list page and was able to post some very nasty porn in there and then reported it to MSN. It made it very hard for us to find. Because it was such nasty hard core porn MSN shuttered the group without notice to us which is why we had no Idea what was going on. After many emails and showing them the emails we had already sent to them we found that it was indeed one of the nicks used by the troll that had posted this nasty porn on our group. Because of MSN Coc and ToU I can not post that or any of the nicks in the group. However, I can tell you some extra steps you can take (and we might have to take here in MHM) to prevent this from happening in your group.
If you have any kind of list pages in your group make sure only managers can add and or delete anything on those pages. They can be set up so that members can add and delete their own stuff but to keep your group safe you should only allow managers to add and or delete anything on any pages like this.
Another way to help keep this from happening in your groups would be to diable the use of photo albums to your members. It might upset your members to be honest but there are other ways they can add graphics to groups. You can use photobucket and other online photo albums to add graphics and not have to use MSN albums at all. If a members post graphics into photo albums in your group you do not always get a notice when they post in the albums even if your group is on moderation. So the only way to be 100% sure no smuts is being posted in the albums is to ban the use of them in your group.
Be sure to check every inch of your group to make sure they haven't hacked their way into any of your pages. You can hide some message boards but they can still be seen with a little work so just hiding message boards will not keep the trolls out of them. If they aren't in use delete them. If you are needing a place just for your managers you need to make another group for managers to meet or just use IM.
If we come up with more ways to prevent this from happening we will be sure to post them. I am thinking about making a page with this and more information in it to post here in MHM. When I do and get it done I will be sure to let everyone know. If we do make any changes to MHM and the rules we will also be sure to post about them.
