Sorry, I tried but could not come up with a witty name for today. It is too early.

Today, we have co-op so we will only be here until about 10. I am feeling really tired and just want to go back to bed.

How about Too Freakin' Early Friday? ha ha

You did great yesterday Jac!  What is co-op?

Scott was so pleased with our bathroom progress that he took today off to work on it.  We are going to see if we can find a vanity that fits and try to put it in.  That's all my hopes are for - I know if it were my dad he'd be able to get the vanity in, caulking done, shower curtain rod up, and all the trim back in plus the towel rod and toilet paper holder.  Me - I will be glad if we get the vanity in and hooked up.  Plus I want to put away all the stuff from Erik's room.  Wed night we took everything out of there that's been sitting in there since maybe February?  And I realized why it's going to be such a nightmare - it's all the stuff from the kids' rooms that I cleaned out and didn't know what to do with.  All stuff with no home.  All stuff I'd like to throw out but all stuff I promised the kids I wouldn't.  I guess the only thing to do it inventory it, box it and put it in the attic.  The rest is Christmas stuff - it's tempting to leave it all alone since  Christmas isn't THAT far away but in reality I need to get it all where it goes so I can move the cabinets into his room.  At least the Christmas stuff is organized.  So Scott said he would help me with the sorting junk - it really needs to be done while the kids aren't around.  Last night Chane started snooping and managed to excavate his candy crane and his bubble gum crane.  I don't want him to find anything else!

The only way I can get anything done is to get up early.

Co-op stands for Cooperation. We are a group of homeschoolers who get together every Friday to teach classes and do "hands on" type of things that are harder to do at home. I think when I started at this co-op we were about 16-18 families and we are up to about 100 now. It is really getting too crazy. I would quit but I know my kids would mutiny. It is really a lot of work.
The first year I was there,  the nursery coordinator quit the second week and I ended up taking it over. I have pretty much been coordinating something ever since. It was supposed to kind of be a day off, a break from the regular routine but it really is a huge chore.  This year I am coordinating the Early Grammar Area. That is ages about 4 -7. There are about 50 of them and it is my job to get them safely to each of their classes and back to their parents at the end of the day. Does not sound too bad but when you realize that you are in a church with nearly 300 kids who have never been to school or are even used to having to listen to anyone but their parents, it turns really chaotic really fast. I never knew what a useful skill being able to stand in a line was before!

Good luck with your vanity. I would not feel bad about only getting that done,  that is pretty huge! It is good that you have an attic you can store those things in. That sounds like a good plan. I wish I had an attic I could use. I have an attic but you have to use a ladder to get to it and it does not have floors so it is not really good for storing things.

Wow that sounds like a huge job!  I agreed to be Wolf leader in Scouts this year and I'll only have 9 kids (age 7) and I'm already overwhelmed by it.  Mostly because I just do not think "boy."

We need a ladder to get into our attic too.  It's not big enough to stand in and had no floor but one year when we had very little money my Christmas gift from Scott was that he bought $50 worth of plywood and screwed it onto the rafters up there.  A GREAT gift!  Before that we just had random boards strewn around up there.

Well we spent 3 hours this morning shopping.  Geez!  Not really "fun" shopping but we did get everything we need I think.  And I like being with Scott so it actually was kind of fun - I like shopping for a specific purpose.  It took awhile because we were trying to go as cheap as possible and get as much as possible.  We went around to a couple of other stores and ended up back at Lowe's.  We got a vanity with sink included for $99 - very small so now I can keep my light fixture.  Actually too small because it ended up to be shallower than our old one (even though it seems as big) so now I have to paint the walls more plus we have to lay down a piece of luaun and re-lay some of the tile.  Our old vanity sat lower into the floor - the builder put luaun right up to it so there was kind of a square hole in the floor.  I figured if we got the same size or bigger it would be no big deal since it would sit on the regular floor and the "hole" would be underneath.  I didn't even think we'd end up with a smaller one so now we have to kind of fill in the hole - does that make sense?  And since I already cut the tile to fit just to the edges, I'll have to pull up three pieces and re-lay them - luckily I have 2-3 pieces left.

So we got a vanity, sink, huge kitchen wall cabinet for an over-the-john cabinet (it's probably too big but after 15 years of using that bathroom with very little storage I'm sacrificing style for function), a medicine cabinet (one I really wanted but was going to wait and ask my MIL for for Christmas but Scott snuck it in - it's the opposite - probably too big because it's an oval with a smallish cabinet but for this one I'm sacrificing function for style because it's so pretty but it will probably look all crammed in).  Also a "fat person" shower rod that curves out like in hotels and a toilet seat.  I think that's it other than two toilet cleaners (the kaboom ones work awesome) and a bucket of oxiclean for laundry.  So no sneaky little purchases in there which kept the bill somewhat down but it still hurt.  I just hope it doesn't look too terribly crammed.  Scott is going to cut the floor board right now (we have some old luaun in the garage) and then I'm going to fix the tiles and then, hopefully, I'll paint tonight.  At first I was just gonna put that off but we really can't do much else 'til I paint so I'm going to do that and hope last year's paint is still good.  It's been in the bathroom ever since so at least it was in a climate-controlled area.  I have big holes from the old OTJ cabinet and med cabinet but I think the new ones will cover them so I'm going to be lazy and do almost no prep work - I freshly painted it last year but with the cabinet being too small and with the light fixture bumping against the fresh paint job last year I kind of knew I'd be repainting anyway but it won't be a "from scratch" job since I did a lot of cleaning and sanding of the wall last year plus priming before putting the paint on.  This is kind of just an extra coat (altho what shows around the cabinet is actually never-been-painted plaster so who knows how many coats I'll need in that one small area).

If I can get that done we'll hook up the vanity.  But before anything I'm going to take the time to straighten up this house before taking Chane (and Braeden and their friend) to C's counseling apptmt - Scott might do it so I can get a jump on painting.  The house looks bad but isn't so I want to tackle it before it gets bad.  It's messy everywhere but I bet it's less than 15 min worth of work not including the stuff from erik's room.  I do not want to start this weekend with a load of laundry in the dryer and little messes everywhere.

Other than shopping we got nothing else done - "snuggling" and lunch don't count do they?  And visiting my mom? :-)

GJ on the laundry and ironing!

I am champing at the bit to get this done but we have to wait for the paint to dry.  It's driving me crazy especially with all the remodeling junk lying around.  And it's raining so it won't dry very fast.  Plus parts will need more coats.

Scott painted while I took the kids to the counselor.  He also put down luaun and I got the  new tiles down - that was actually no big deal at all like I thought it might be.  He is putting the faucet together now in the sink even tho the vanity and sink are in the bedroom.  So many little things to do and I just want to keep going while we have momentum - sucks to have to wait.

  • finish paint coats
  • put shower curtain rod up - looks more complicated than i thought since it's adjustable
  • move vanity in - attach to wall?
  • seal drain with silicone - probably have to go buy some?
  • attach sink to vanity
  • finish plumbing
  • caulk sink and vanity
  • scrape tub
  • caulk around tub surround and floor
  • put toilet seat on (braeden wants to do this)
  • remove tape from window
  • put up curtain rod
  • put up curtains
  • pin where curtains need to be hemmed
  • put up shower curtains
  • put up towel rod - probably needs anchor bolts
  • put up hooks - probably need anchor bolts
  • put up med cabinet - anchor bolts
  • put in med cabinet shelves
  • put in light fixture - probably have to go buy screws
  • put in kitchen cabinet
  • put doorknobs on vanity
  • buy doorknobs for kitchen cabinet
  • put doorknobs on kitchen cabinet
  • put shelf inside vanity
  • buy drain stopper for tub
  • put overflow cover back on tub
  • caulk toilet bolts
  • put new insides in toilet tank
  • put in toilet paper holder
  • put in hand towel ring (unless i decide to use this downstairs)
  • figure out toothbrush holder
  • buy and install kaboom thingie
  • seal tile joints
  • put in crown molding
  • put in baseboards
  • finish trim
  • spackle trim
  • touch up paint on trim
  • put in fan (probably will have to wait for a long time)
  • clean up/touch up paint

Sorry Joni, you do get tons more done than I do. No matter what you say. I am impressed.

I made it through the day but then when I got home, there was a tornado warning which forced me downstairs sitting doing nothing and I got nothing else done tonight. The kitchen did not even get clean. Then Clint wanted me to watch a movie with him. I like watching movies but I like to be doing something at the same time. That irritates Clint though so I just sat and watched a really weird movie. I don't know what I will get done tomorrow. We are supposed to go work on a rental house so I won't be here much.

I think I just type more and give myself credit for smaller things   I'd probably need to recuperate for a week from co-op alone lol.

Scott is taking the kids to Fort McHenry today for a reenactment.  It's down in Baltimore and is the scene of the battle where the Star Spangled Banner was written.  I went there as a field trip as a kid but this is a huge special celebration they're having with period dressed people and all kinds of music and activities.  You all are probably thinking 'cool" but my first reaction is "zzzzz."  Scott invited me and I said "I'd probably ruin it for you" and he said "yeah but I felt like I had to ask anyway." lol.  I just told him that if he'd take me to dinner afterward at Cheesecake Factory (never been there but my neighbor bought his wife home a dessert from there for her birthday and stored it in my fridge as a surprise and it was the most decadent dessert I've ever seen - chocolate truffle cake - each piece was 1200 calories and 112 g of fat and the cake cost $85 so I'm thinking it was probably soooo good and have wanted to go to Cheesecake Factory in Baltimore's Inner Harbor ever since!).  He just looked at me.  As in "I don't want you to go anyway" and "do you REALLY think you need a dessert like that?" and "yeah right we can't afford to eat there" but all he said was "it will be closed by the time the celebration is over."  Ahhh.  I think my original point was that my husband does a lot but me, not so much!

My MIL is coming to drop off peaches.  ???  I don't quite get why.  She got them for free and they are starting to turn so she doesn't want them to go to waste.  Okay, keep in mind she lives over an hour away.  And drives an Explorer so we are talking about $25 in gas minimum I bet.  And two hours of her life.  She doesn't have time to stay so she is not coming for a social visit.  I totally don't understand her sometimes.  She's only come up briefly on a Saturday I think once before - she usually only comes for a real visit.  It's not like she lives close enough to "stop by."  But she's coming in about an hour (so probably more like 2 hours by her timetable) so it will be incentive for me to get the first level in shape.  I really did clean it up last night but with the kids here including an extra and us working on the bathroom (watching the paint dry but still, a lot of clutter involved in that!) it got messy again.  They all wanted soup at 10PM and popcorn plus they ate breakfast this morning and I never cleaned up after dinner.  She said it's a lot of peaches and she needs fridge room so I guess I need to go clean out the fridge since her nose will be in it.

And Scott wants me to pack them a dinner of some sort.

So I need to put contacts in, shower, clean out the fridge, clean up the kitchen and living room, neaten up the bathroom which I'm sure she'll be in several times (she has IBS), and neaten up our bedroom because I'm sure she'll want to go peek at the new bathroom.

Oh and I need to re-talk Chane into going with Scott because I think he wants to stay here which is fine but he'll be bored and decide it's board game time when I want to work on the yard or bathroom or stuff from Erik's room today...
