Yikes!! Does your computer work today?!

Today is d-day... we have to move and clean EVERYTHING out of the old house so it will likely be a very late night. Dh had to do work stuff last night at midnight (they had to move files into production then) and he didn't end up home til after 3. So, I have a feeling that we may take this week-end to be a mostly lazy week-end after working like maniacs.

Hi girls, boy I have a lot of catching up to do! Wow you are moved now Sara!  You need to call and give me your new number!

Wow recalled chocolate is showing up that was recalled in 2006. No Halloween candy they said though which I guess means the mini chocolate bars.

It looks like we have to move this group!  I wonder if we will lose all our messages?????????

We still have the same old number, we just cancelled the second line that was the 705 number to save almost $10/month. My number is 519-489-4714.

It looks like it's the cheapy candy that was recalled. I feel fairly safe giving them name brand candy... well, as safe as can be! lol

I can't imagine we'd lose the posts if we move it over but who knows. That would suck!!

Stick around, eh Gabriele?! lol What have you been doing with your non-computer time? I may need some more input on how to organize my house and dont' want to burden Joni with being the only one to have to give me input!

Yikes, this night got away from me. I'm finally making progress on the house though. It feels like we're drowning in chaos.... But, I only have to deal with the tupperware cupboard and baking bowls in my kitchen and then it'll pretty much be taken care of! yay! Of course, the island is the no man's land and will take a good while to deal with. I have 2 deadline dates motivating me though... Em is having a sleepover birthday party this Sat. night. We're going to do a bunch of baking so it would be helpful to clear the island and get my kitchen all clear. Plus, to get the living room and the girls' room completely in order. Probably the basement toys too. Then the next week-end, we'll likely be hosting small group. So, there's more motivation!

Anyways, going to pop up some popcorn on the stove and finally write up Em's invitations (I gave out 'save the date' kinda notes last week, Thurs or Fri) so now I gotta give the details. Man, I'm so behind and disorganized. But, it sounds like she has at least 4 out of the 6 coming. yay!

I'll likely be around tomorrow. It's supposed to be BEAUTIFUL outside and I just have Timmy with me. I have a few phone calls to make and I'm wanting to deal with re-potting my indoor plants. Maybe if I need to do some errands, I'll look for some more indoor plants (i killed off a few :( ) I want to spray paint the girls' bunk beds as well but will likely just do the ladder to test the paint and let dh do the rest since I shouldn't be breathing that in. Here's hoping I can stick to a list and get things done!

I looked into moving to the new site and I'm pretty sure we won't lose our posts.  I'm also pretty sure that it will be very different so we should probably really take a good look at it after the holidays to make sure we all understand how to use it!  Then we can move in January.

Burden me away Sara - I love organizing stuff.  But I miss Serene too so if that will get her back then so be it.  Now we need to figure out how to get Jac back in here!

I can't believe you got the computer up and running already with everything else you have to do.  Did you have an island before?  I LOVE my island!  Did you get your new countertop?  Are you baking DURING the sleepover or for it?

I need some of your motivation.  Send some my way.  Can I host Em's party??  Yeah right like I would know what to do with 5 8yo girls! LOL  I know what to do with 5 boys that age - go to my room and lock my door.  I will have 5 boys here Friday night but not sleeping over - Chane's having a 7yo friend and Braeden will have two 10yo friends and they will no doubt get out all the nerf guns and be tearing through the house for awhile before they settle down and play Legos.  When the one boy, Ben is here, they always start with the Nerf guns and the entire house (other than my bedroom) is fair game.  Ahhhh

I think you are very organized - stop saying you are disorganized.  Just giving out the save-the-date information is enough information while in the middle of a move.

Did you get the bunk bed spray-painted?  I hate spray painting.  I am so bad at it.  Other people say they spray painted this or that but every time I've tried it I just end up with a runny mess.  And all the paint rubs back off.

I want to paint some things around here so badly.  I asked Scott if he could take off Mon-Wed on Thanksgiving week because it's brewing up to be a perfect storm (well the opposite of a storm - a perfect clear week).  All the pieces are coming together to make it an ideal week for home improvement projects.  We have no commitments the weekends before or after, we don't really celebrate  Thanksgiving in a traditional way (we go out to dinner or make fried chicken, then we go to a movie with just us and the kids), and we have no commitments during the week.  I would cancel Chane's standing counseling appointment, I planned a field trip to the fire house for Scouts so no den meeting to worry about, I only have one doctor's appointment which I may postpone (altho it's the one for my meds so I probably shouldn't) and the only other thing I have going on is 1.5 hours at the school on Tuesday for a winter fair I'm helping with.  No cleaning jobs and the kids are off school from Wednesday through the following Monday - they have an entire week off for Thanksgiving which is unheard of and I'm not sure why but it means we can sleep 'til a decent time before starting work on the house and not have to stop to get them off the bus.  They can have a good time playing computer and video games since they are limited on those right now so they should enjoy it.

The only problem is that there is some big thing going on that Scott can't tell me about at work (if he tells me he has to kill me yada yada yada) so the people under him have actually had to cancel their own Thanksgiving leave plans to man a 24-hour shift.  He is not military (they are Navy) so it's different for him but I can see how he would feel weird taking off when they can't, even though he doesn't really need to be there.  They are on a "watch floor" where they are on-guard for bad stuff and it needs to be manned 24/7 but he would only need to be there if something actually happened.

I made a list of things I would like to do around here - things that have needed to be done for years that would be so much easier if two people work together and have long stretches of time - plus he is good at parts of some things and I'm good at parts of others.  We could finally get the baseboards all in and some painting done and fix things here and there.  Things that are bugging me like half-painted doors in the hallway and paint missing from things.  It would make me feel better for a long time before I'd start feeling bugged by things building up again - I bet I'd feel better for at least a year lol.  We can't afford to replace the dishwasher, microwave, trampoline pad or storm door so that would all still bug me but at least all these little niggling things would get done and off my mind!  I've noticed lately that what makes houses look good is when the trim is all crisply painted and in place and the walls are clean - no matter what else is going on, if the trim is decent (including the doors and stuff) and the walls look decent, even if the floors look bad you don't get the feeling that the house is falling apart.  It just makes it look more solid.  Seeing parts of my walls that have missing baseboards (at least 3 rooms of my house have missing baseboards) or missing trim (2 rooms) or trim that is missing paint or has paint on it from painting the walls or is poorly done or not finished (many other rooms!) is just depressing and so easily fixed.  Our bedroom and the hall bathroom both have neat trim so no matter how messy they are and how gross my carpeting is, I just feel good in there.  Wish me luck!

augh, my big plans for yesterday so didn't happen. I felt really sick and tired, probably from missing my medication. So, nothing got done. Today, I'm still feeling kinda tired but a little motivated.

We can't find Winnie. I'm so ticked. I try so hard to keep him inside by the rest of the family, especially Andrew, just let him out and don't care if he escapes when they leave. So, if he doesn't come back, I will be even more ticked. I'm hoping he'll show up though usually if he's bene out all night, he's waiting by the door in the morning. But, it was fairly mild out so maybe he's out having fun still (there's lots of outdoor cats in our neighbourhood.)

No, no countertop yet. We're still waiting on how much it would be... I gotta get dh to nag his friend about it. I've never had an island! Well, growing up we had a breakfast bar thing which was the paper collector and I could see it being that way here. But, I will try to resist!!!

lol, sure, you can host the party! I'm hoping to do some baking with the kids. We'll see how that goes...

Nope, didn't attempt the spray painting. I've never spray painted before and I dont' think dh has either. this could be interesting!

Aw, I hope you're able to take care of those things! I totally know what you mean about neat trim/walls... I can see that in our house.

Ok, load in the wash is done so I'm going to attempt to do a few things before Delaney has swimming. I'm so freakin' tired though....

I am so unmotivated!

Sorry you are feeling punk.  I hope you can do something today.

My island is a paper collector.  It helps that I have a box on the buffet now where we move all the papers each night.

I asked my dad to build me a pantry/utility closet in the kitchen after the holidays.  If he does that, it will have a real door (not folding) and I'll put those hanging file things on the inside - the ones like doctors have on their doors.  And I will mail you the buffet Sara! :-)  I wish I could give it to you but I bet it would cost twice as much to mail it as to just buy a new one.

My friend Debbie actually kept standing files on her island (same house as mine).  That might work for you.  Nothing has seemed to work for me though.  I still love haivng an island despite it's clutter catching abilities.  Does the countertop on yours overhang the cabinets?  Mine does which is what allowed me to put stools under it and I really like that.  The kids eat breakfast and snack at the island which saves the dining room chairs all getting pulled out and crumbs all over the dining room.  Not that my dining room is separate from my kitchen but for some reason it helps that the crumbs and stuff stay in the kitchen half of the room.  Maybe because I can't see them from the kitchen since they fall under the stools? :-)    I am always cleaning off the island so cleaning up a few breakfast dishes doesn't add to the job like cleaning off the table always did.

I invited my MIL up for dinner this weekend.  Hopefully that will motivate me.  I've been purposefully not actually cleaning lately because I thought I'd be motivated to do a real good cleaning this week since it was a slack week but instead I goofed off.  Actually I gave Braeden a mental health day yesterday since he hasn't missed any school this year or asked me to miss any - funny though, I got more done with him home even though it should be the opposite.  Just having him here kept me from getting all lonely and depressed.  He still got up and bathed at 6.  The day wasn't that exciting or memorable though and he was disappointed - I think before he has always made an effort to do whatever I have going on with me but this time he played on the computer while I raked outside after he picked up the outside Halloween decorations for me.  And when I went to vote, he played DS in line.  I don't think he realized that not making an effort to work for me made his day less memorable than normal - even though we went out to lunch like we always do on his mental health days.  He was sad last night and this morning that it was over - he's not getting another one 'til January or later.

I'm down about the election too.  We are Republican so it was disappointing that Obama won even though we expected it.  Funny enough my kids voted for McCain at school too even though we hadn't told them about our own political leanings.  Chane said he voted for McCain because he's "cool."  Um, he's 72 and looks like he has a stick up his butt - how is that cool to a 7yo? lol  We didn't really like him either - just the lesser of two evils.  I actually like Obama as a person better but I don't want the Democrats in power and they not only have the Presidency now but also the Congress.  Cleaning out the government is not going to magically fix things but I guess that's what people think.  I doubt it would get fixed either way but for our family, personally, the Republican way fits our needs better with my husband working for national defense.  It's also irksome to think about our tax dollars paving the way for other people while we are still struggling.  I also have this fear that being black there are too many white crazies in this country that would want Barack assassinated for no other reason than that and thinking about all the ramifications of our first black President being assassinated is scary.  And hearing black crazies saying things like now that their "man" is in office everything will be wonderful now.  God,  imagine if he gets killed and the Secret Service gets accused of not protecting him well enough because he's black?  Not to get into any real racial discussion here but it's rough to think about what that would mean to our country.  And you know if there are people who seriously want the President dead, there's no 100% way to protect him and I would assume that adding the race card makes more people come out of the woodwork that would want him dead.  My dumbbutt BIL said "why would you think he'd get killed because he's black - if he gets elected that means everyone accepts him."  Duh - it only takes a couple of smart, crazy, well-armed and well-planned people to kill him.  Just because over half the country voted for him doesn't mean all is hunky dory.

Enough about that.  I'm making myself crazy!

Crazy?  I was crazy once.  They put me in a room.  A round room.  A round rubber room.  With rats.  Round rats.  Round rubber rats.  Round rubber rats with wheels.  Round wheels. Round rubber wheels.  Round rubber wheels that went round...and round...and round... and drove me crazy.  Crazy?  I was crazy once.  They put me in a room...

LOL sorry - Braeden came back saying that from Scout camp this weekend and anytime someone says the word "crazy" we all say that now.  Ack!  It's enough to drive you crazy for real.
