Doing some looking around on Effexor and saw this - thought you might enjoy reading it:

Effexor's Cons: For many people Effexor XR has the absolute worst discontinuation syndrome of an antidepressant. Effexor (venlafaxine hydrochloride) is a medication people utterly loathe to have taken. It is not uncommon for someone to fire doctors during or immediately after they quit taking Effexor XR(venlafaxine hydrochloride).

The same site also says that Effexor is for the deepest, darkest depression and seems to be prescribed after others fail.  I'm surprised you started witht that one!

actually you might want to read the whole thing - there's a bunch of relevant stuff at the bottom.

Yeah, I do wonder why I was put on that first. I wonder if it had something to do with nursing?!

After reading the whole thing about Effexor, I'm tempted to just stop taking them now. I'm not entirely sure I understand the halflife stuff... I'll have to get Andrew to read that and explain it to me but with being on the lowest pill dosage I can take (I believe), I think I have to just stop.

Have you decided to not go ahead with Effexor after doing research, Joni? Honestly, I'm not sure it would have changed my mind if I was to go on it now. It's so hard to know how it really will effect you.

On a recommendation from my midwife student, I'm going to start taking Omega 3. I'm not sure I got the right ones but I'm going to try it out. I'm so bad at taking pills like that though yet somehow, I was good about taking the effexor. Maybe I need to come up with a time when I always take it, along with my vitamin.

Gotta change a poopy bum.

Well I mentioned you to my doctor when he said Effexor for me, and he said there's no way you should be skipping doses to go off of it.  He said you should be slowly slowly tapering.  But then again he doesn't know you and I wasn't sure exactly how you were going off of it.  I just told him I had a friend on Effexor who was having trouble getting off of it and I had concerns.

Well, that's where I have the issues. I only took 75 mg. So, the only smaller dose is 37.5g. I've decided that I'm done with it and will see how it goes without taking it anymore. This will be day 3 without it. Let's hope tomorrow isn't a snow day cause I have a feeling I may be getting a migraine! Or, if it is a snow day, that when I wake up at 6:30, I feel sick enough to be able to call and say, sorry, not watching your kids today!
