Woke up with my left side sinuses congested.  Argh!

Poor dh got home at 12 and was gone by 6:30.  After leaving here at 5:30 yesterday.  I called him last night to ask if he's having an affair.  His mouth was full of potato salad from some function on Monday at work, and he said yes, with leftover potato salad.  He said this morning he can't wait to quit so he can de-stress.

I have a lot of making up to do today!  But I'm in the school 9:30-11:30 so I'll have to work around that plus that means doing my hair and makeup and whatever for real.

I think they'd call, I actually don't know. I'll feel like an idiot if I get there and they've had kids get picked up early. I'm fairly certain they haven't shut them down.

The nap helped a bit but now I'm freezing and have the sore throat/plugged nose thing going on. At least I'm not so achy.

I've also decided who cares about gingerbread men!? I did quite a bit with the kids and I can do that with my kids next week. I think it'll be way too hectic to try to get them baked AND decorated. either gavin and Laura's dad will pick them up early or late... I'm hoping early. So, if he is early, then trying to get them done will be crazy. I think I'll print off some colouring sheets cause Delaney and laura would like those, it's a non-messy craft and then I'm not forcing the older 3 to do them cause they'll want to just play anyways.

Dh is off at 3 today so that's cool! He'll likely take until 4 to get home anyways... has to drive a friend home and get gas for the snow thrower and with the roads, it will take him a loong time.

Ok, printed off a few sheets. I'm going to clear off the table and figure out what I'll feed these kids. I think clementines and I hope the girls have leftover cupcakes from school cause then I'll give those. If not... hmm, popcorn?

I have no clue how much we have but it's been snowing non-stop since 7am and it's been coming down pretty heavy. I'd say at least 10 cm. But, it's really windy so it's drifting, big time. I know I have a huge dirft beside my van so that'll be fun to walk through to get Timmy into the van! I'm going to attempt driving and leave about 10 mins early (it takes about 2 mins to drive to school.) I can't imagine walking in this blowly stuff plus most people won't have their sidewalks shovelled so it would be tough with Timmy.

About 15 mins left!

waxed my upper lip .  never did that before.  bought wax at the grocery store today.  now i have half the hair plus little bloody spots.  sigh...  scott says i don't have a moustache but the kids say i do.  you can see it in certain light because it's blonde.

sigh again

anyways...

no kids came home with us - yay!  sometimes i like it, sometimes i don't mind, sometimes i groan inwardly, and sometimes i say no way.  tonight was a groan inwardly but nobody asked so i didn't have to say yes or no.

before i come back at 4 i'm going to:

  • clean the hall bath which is pretty much already clean but i'm going to do a quick toilet and floor touchup
  • lock it
  • do 1 kitchen thing

lol on the waxing... sounds, um, painful!? My poor girls, most likely Delaney, will have a love/hate relationship with wax products or tweezers. She's quite hairy and has dh's dark hair, poor girl.

Yay on no kids! I also had a nice surprise... Gavin and Laura's dad was waiting for us when we got home. Woohoo! They didn't even have to step into my house so my house has been VERY calm with just Maddie here.

I'm having some gas/poo issues. TMI?! And, dh still isn't home but I have him surprising us with fast food for supper. See, big meals are a rare thing here! Lasagna is on the menu (a new recipe) but I so don't feel like totally messing up my kitchen yet again and we won't be eating til at least 6-6:30. So, this way, we can feel like we've got more of the night ahead of us to get stuff done. I hope anyways. So, I can imagine the fast food will help loads with my issues. bahaha

I just looked up the game Lips on Xbox360. We got a thing from Rogers yesterday about switching to high speed and we'd get a free game, Gears of War 2 or Lips. We had already been thinking about switching but this just seals the deal for dh (he of course wants Gears of War.) But, Lips looks awesome. Emily loooves the singing part of Rock Band but I find it very repetative and songs that she's never heard of. Lips has a ton of popular recent songs and you can download Christmas songs. It has 2 microphones as well. PLUS, you can hook up your ipod (which she has and loves) and you can sing along to it through the game (though the lyrics aren't displayed, you still can get judged on how you sing it.) But, I'm wondering if maybe this would be a good Christmas gift for her? Though, we already bought 2 Wii games for her that were $45 each. yikes. So, getting this for her, she'd totally outnumber Delaney's gifts.

Ok, I'm blabbing too much. gotta check on Timmy with markers as the older kids are done colouring.

yay on only one kid for you! :-)

i can even wear shorts without shaving my legs so having a moustache surprised the heck out of me.  at least i don't have dark hair but man, when the light hits from the side you can kind of see a silhouette of hair.  gross!

i know how you feel about the gift thing.  did i already say this?  chane's outnumber and outsize braeden's.  i thin ki already said all this but i don't see it lol.  so i'll repeat myself - sorry!  in his pile he has 5 books, 5 shirts, a computer game and a lego set.  in addition to his $$ santa gift (lego chess set) and his hiking set which he didn't ask for and i'm not sure he'll want it.  we probably spent more or at least as much on him but his gifts from us kind of suck.  meemaw bought all the good ones from me.  usually i don't care who their gifts come from as long as they're what i want them to have but with him being so older and extremely perceptive i don't want him to think we shorted him.  since santa's gift is not from us (yes he still totally believes).  ahhh.  so i asked scott if we could get him the at-te (star wars lego) and the medal of honor set i had ordered before but it didn't get sent (something about teh seller's paypal account).  he said sure right away.  chane's stuff is all big and flashy - big matchbox sets and whatnot.  braeden's just look so BORING.  and he's not a boring kid.  it'd be okay if we had gotten him things he asked for but the lego set and the lego chess set are the only things we are giving him from us that were on his list.  so medal of honor and the at-te are on his list and he totally is convinced he won't get the at-te because he thinks it's $139 (it's $90).  i'm not sure where he got $139.

so scott is buying at least the at-te now and i'm going to try to find the medal of honor (found it at walmart a month ago but it's since been discontinued because it's for ps2 which i guess is outdated?).

i'm making the fudge and i totally screwed up the nougat layer on the first one.  see, it started burning in m y saucepan so i mixed it with the other stuff in a separate bowl which made it cool superfast so it got like taffy.  actually very yummy to just eat but very hard and flat.  so i made the 2nd batch by holding the pan way up high over the stove (fun on my wrists for 5 minutes!) and it turned out completely different so that made me realize how much the first batch got screwed up! it's okay though - the first batch i actualy liked the taste so i'm assuming i'll like the taste of the 2nd one once it cools too.  i didn't really taste that one but i'm pleased with how the first one tasted.  the caramel adn final layer will both be easy.  that 2nd layer was a pain tho!  i can't wait to eat this stuff!

gotta look at my list

we are hearing about your storm down here.  you're in ontario right?

going to update.  got all the layers on the fudge except the top layer.  as soon as i ate our sloppy joes my stomach started to hurt but not sure if it's the dinner or the sampling i've been doing!

scott is home and agreed to wrap and clean the kitchen so i can maybe keep going and get some other things done.  i'd like to bake more cookies but should probably put them off.  funny how much cleaning i've done in my kitchen today and it's a mess now and honestly looks like i've done nothing to it!

i did all but iron the tablecloths - i also picked up the bedroom first.  somewhat anyway - enough to dust!

made a bunch of labels but couldn't remember what meals i had and how many so i missed a few and made a few extras.  i think i'm going to need more label tape - it only came with a sample pack.

i didn't realize it was so late!

before i come back at 8:30 i will:

iron the tablecloths
get a batch of cookies made or at least ready for the oven
finish the fudge

way ambitious list for me!!!  baking takes me forever!

well i decided to work with scott so we cleaned the entire kitchen and dining room pretty well.  i still need to finish my heavy cleaning in there - i think i only have the stovetop, inside of the fridge and floor to do.  and the light fixtures.  i think that's it.  altho that doesn't include the dining room which is wooden furniture that needs to be oiled and the barstools which are a PITA.

i did make cookies.  they turned out awesome.  better than normal.  chane says i should open a shop called "best cookies in the world." lol  uh, no thank you!

i'm going to finish the fudge tomorrow.  here's hoping it doesn't taste bad from sitting in the garage for 24 hours.  scott is wrapping his little heart out.  he's exhausted so i'm trying to help by doing the running around bringing him stuff part.  i need to check my list and see what all needs to be done.  i told him how much drilling has helped me this week - thanks sara!  if i didn't think you were reading this, it probably wouldn't motivate me at all!

I don't think I've seen a total list of what you got your kids. I know you mentioned the un-evenness. I think right now, it's still a matter of how many gifts they have under the tree. If Emily has 3 big ones and Delaney has 6 small ones, Emily will feel ripped off. Soo, I'm REALLY hoping to be able to do a mega wrap tonight with dh. We have presents to wrap for tomorrow so why not do the kids' as well?! I'm hoping he'll go for it but I have a feeling we'll be so behind on cleaning stuff that it won't happen :( I just want to get their gifts sorted out sooner than later so we can figure out if we should get more or what.

I loove the nougat layer. I didn't think I would but the added peanut butter makes it so addictive for me. Um, I've had the fudge sitting out on my counter, pretty much all week. I do a layer here or there and just leave it on the counter. Yeah, I don't do things the right or 'healthy' way all that much. Gotta finish it up today but I've been waiting for the kids to peel the carmels cause they had fun doing it last time and I'm trying to find easy jobs for them to do that take some of the load off of me. I so hope these 2 pans turn out like the first one cause it was so stinkin' good. And it cut up really nice for me which I thought it wouldn't.

Yup, we're in Southern Ontario, Cambridge (Kitchener Waterloo area) about an hour south of Toronto. Yeah, it was quite the storm. They're saying they measured 18 cm so what's that? 7.5 inches? We're supposed to get another dumping (though only 5-10 cm) overnight and then some more on Christmas Eve! We'll have a white Christmas for sure! It's supposed to be quite cold today. Oh yeah, there's supposed to be lots of snowsqualls tomorrow (I think just the morning but not sure.) The family that's coming are mostly coming from way out of town areas where the blowing snow would affect them. Is it wrong to hope we have to cancel it because they can't come? I dont' even care about all the work I'm putting into this cause we can still enjoy the food and clean house! I dont' know what we'd do about celebrating Christmas with them then though. And, there's no way I'd host a big meal like this again if I have all the food ready for tomorrow cause I'm not getting another turkey, etc.

I didn't get much done yesterday. I had stomach issues as well but not too bad. Timmy had a rough falling asleep night and just made huge messes (including this morning, he dumped out some puzzles. augh) I managed to get a whole bunch of touch up painting done so I'm happy with that! The border is almost off in the kitchen. Other than that, that's pretty much it. The house is destroyed, the kitchen looks awful with wallpaper bits ALL over. ahhh
