So, just a little update on our holiday. Today is the first day we could actually relax and it's been nice. Actually, I can't believe it's not even 4 yet as it feels like 6 or 7. Our house still looks pretty messy as we're trying to put away the gifts from our Christmas, then stuff from my Nanny and Poppas, then stuff from my parents and then stuff from yesterday. AHH, way too many gifts.

I did a big clean out of the fridge and wiped it down so it looks beautiful! Uh, we won't look at the freezer side of it as it's not quite so clean or organized.

I'm quite happy with what we've got done today. of course, there's still a whole bunch more to do before tomorrow.

How did your Christmas go? When do your boys go back to school?

I'm trying to not think about having Gavin and Laura back tomorrow. augh It will likely be a relaxing day with not much planned. I may get them to help make muffins for afternoon snack (though I think just Laura will want to do that.) We'll probably just have chicken nuggets and homemade fries (unless I have frozen fries, then it'll be a bit of both) for lunch. I'm dreading how they'll be with the kitten. I can see lots of fights over who gets to hold her and since I'm trying to let her be free during the day when we're home, I can picture Laura following her all over the place. We have an issue with our girls picking her up every 3 seconds so to have to add another kid to the "leave the cat on the floor" group, I'll go crazy!

Thankfully, I'm easing into the daycare thing again... I'll have them for 2 whole days (7:30-4:30... ahhh) and then 7:30-12 on Wed. I won't have them Thurs and I'm not sure about Friday. Their mom mentioned something about not being required to work that day but it wasn't official. her work seems to be uptight though so I can't imagine she'll get the day off so while I'd love to not have them, I'll plan for them to be here. Andrew has that day off so I could take off the day but the money is a good thing.

Yikes, blabbed on here too much. I gotta get moving here. Andrew has a bud (the counter buddy) coming at 7 to return some xbox stuff and to get the counter sample so he can order that. So, that's my motivation to get the main floor cleaned up sooner than later. I need it totally picked up before I go to bed cause I don't want Laura and Gavin rifiling through the new gifts and stuff (cause that's what they did last year when we piled the new toys on the basement couch.) A lot of the stuff in the living room is stocking stuff so make-up, lip stuff, candy, small things, etc.

Not sure I'll be on here too much in the next few days. If we have people over for New Year's Eve (very unlikely), than I may need to do some lists but that's a very minimal chance of that happening!

Grr, my day is starting off on the negative foot. Gavin and Laura showed up 15 mins early. augh I was hoping to get my main floor bathroom cleaned in that time. Thankfully, they are being quiet. I have a feeling they didn't have any food before they left though. Actually, I'm probably irrationally ticked off at their mom for this. It may be kind of bad but last week, they didn't use any care. Because they are through the region and because I didn't take off the time, I still get paid (minimal) for them. That means their mom still has to pay me the subsidy. I was going to let it go but the region will deduct that from my pay meaning I'll be out $40. After them showing up early, this fuels my fire to get a backbone and remind her that I still need the subsidized pay for last week.

I also looked at the weather. Looks like we'll be getting a bunch of snow tonight. My friend, the one who cancelled on us for Christmas Eve, was supposed to be coming tomorrow morning for a visit. I can pretty much guarentee she won't now. I'm actually really hurt and totally ticked at how many times she's cancelled on me. It's not because I'm making the plans, she's the one that brings them up but something better comes up or she finds something little to cancel it for (yeah, I know the weather CAN be a factor but on Christmas Eve, it was because it was raining.) We've started making plans 2 years now for New Year's Eve. Last year, I thought we were still on until I heard her mention doing something with her friends 1.5 hrs away. And this year, she decided to go ahead with doing the no kids thing with small group. I don't know, am I supposed to just let this stuff slide and not let it affect me? I'm likely taking it too personally but geez, when someone keeps on cancelling plans that you've looked forward to, how else can I take it?! I like hanging out with her and I believe it's the same for her. I guess she just doesn't place as much importance. I'm very tempted to write an email saying something about tomorrow and wanting to know if I should count on her to come or not. I had asked about doing lunch with her and her kids after Gavin and Laura left but then I never heard back from her (email.)

Ok, enough venting, blabbing. Gotta get into the morning routine, minus getting ready for school. I have no clue what we're going to do today. I dont' want to have another day where we are stuck inside, only getting outside for 15 mins. But, there's no snow and it's too cold to play with bikes, etc so what do you do outside?! I was thinking of walking to a store this morning but that means spending money. Hmm, I think the girls' library books are due back today. Maybe we'll drive there (too far to walk.) Doesn't really give us outside time but we get out of the house and it's free!

So, I'll likely be around today, trying to work on some sort of list. TTYL!

That sounds really hurtful how your friend treats you.  I doubt she even realizes it.  But yeah, you depend on the plans and don't make other plans and then she does instead.  So I'd say something.  I'm not sure what though!

We have a Rocky apptmt this morning.  I need to go shower.  I'm going to wait and re-shower to do my hair later.

As for Laura's mom, just tell her the region deducted that $40 so you need her to make it up.  It's hard but she knows you are not doing daycare for fun.  She's being wormy and hoping you won't bring it up which is taking advantage of you so don't feel bad!

Must go - TTYL

Hope the morning goes well for you!

Yeah, I'm not sure how to bring it up to her or if it would even matter what I said. You can't force someone to hang out with you, right? Ahhh

I think when Laura and Gavin's mom pays me this Friday for this week, I'll bring up last week as well. I don't badly need the money this Friday so if I just make her aware then, I'm ok with that.

The kids have been playing really well. I've been a walking zombie. I feel so out of it, my legs are heavy, my back is sore, etc etc. But, I've managed to finish a few dishes from last night (the soaker pans), put away a bit of laundry, clean both bathrooms and do the regular kid stuff. So, I'm doing well for feeling like I have NO energy!

I have to do a morning snack and figure out our game plan for today. The library doesn't open til 12 BUT, we could just drop off the books. Hmm, i think I need a rough schedule on here:

10-morning snack
-girls gather up books
-me finish dishes
10:30-head out with books and movie
-drop movie off
-drop books off
-go to Wal-mart to get deo for dh and see if we can find anything for lunch
-if we were unsuccessful for lunch ideas-go to A&P? or Zehrs? or Sam's Club?
12-1- make and eat lunch with kids help
-get T to nap
1-3-watch a movie
3-4-play outside, go for a walk
-get aft. snack ready (cookies and apple slices?)
4:30- Gavin and Laura go home
-make cream pasta... print off recipe

rest of the night-survive, clean up, go to bed at a decent hour

good schedule.  why does the library open so late?  because of the holidays?

you are doing awesome!  esp for not feeling well but even if you felt good that would be a lot!

i was trying not to eat sugar today but there was the contents of my purse dumped on the island from the movie and it was all kisses and dove chocolates so i ate them ALL plus a cherry candy cane.  now i feel ill.  why do i do that?  i honestly was being lazy in addition to glutonous - didn't want to figure out where to put them so i ate them.  ahh, pitiful

i have been working to get christmas packed up.  it's a lot of work even without all the little junk we used to have.  so far i have one tub of bags and boxes, one tub of christmas eve dinner stuff (kids' champagne glasses, tablecloths, paper goods, etc), a tub for the tree decorations, and a tub of miscellaneous stuff like drawings.  also two tubs of miscellaneous decorations and i need at least one more tub for decorations and to figure out what to do about all the things that don't fit in tubs like my pinecone basket and the larger reindeer i have plus scott's thingie he got that you light candles and the propeller spins and a couple of large boxes with glass decorations in them.  and that's not even touching the nutrcracker collection or village yet.  i have taken down all lights and wrapped them around a big piece of cardboard but i have a bunch of other inside lights to organize.  i also haven't touched the outside stuff yet.  not to mention the two huge hiking backpacks and misc stuff scott and the kids got for christmas.  and the stocking stuffers chane got - oh my!  i looked and it's a medium size gift bag full to the top - my MIL stuffs a big stocking for them too.  it's stuff like silly string and i don't know what all else.  i should probably just tackle it one-by-one because in the bag looking at it it's kind of overwhelming.

anyway i got the kitchen cleaned and swept.  the dining room table has decorations all over it and bags of tree parts (i bag each level of branches separately) stacked beside it.  otherwise both rooms are neat and clean altho the floor could use a good cleaning.  the playroom looks junky but it's probably not as bad as it looks - it's all stuff that requires decisions though.  plus a stack of cardboard that is recyclable.

b has a friend over and they are itching to get o nhere.  i need to go shower anyway and do my hair correctly.  i'm going to keep working until my living room and the playroom all look nice plus touch up the bathroom.  it's just my sister coming over and she's exactly like me only the pretty, sociable more "cosmopolitan" version so i know she doesn't judge but it would be nice to at least have the bathrooms clean (this is the sister who had  a party and my other sister and i got there early so we went in and cleaned the bad rooms she'd just closed doors to to help her out and the one whose bathrooms i went and cleaned about a month ago because i wanted her to do something with us but she was trying to get ready for company so she understands things getting yucky).

hope the kids and you are quietly resting and watching your movie right now!

The library branch we go to is in a high school so I think that's why they open so late. That's their normal hours.

Aw, I so would do that with the chocolates. Actually, the past week, I've been just eating for the heck of it. It's making me sick and feel awful. augh

Good job on the Christmas stuff!! I'm hoping to organize our stuff really well and purge A LOT. I used to like having lots of decorations but I"m realizing simple is better. Plus, we don't have many areas to put decorations.

I am avoiding the girls' room right now. Delaney has opened a few new things up there so the garbage from that is everywhere. Plus, they both think they can just throw gum wrappers or labels from new clothes on the floor. Uh, I don't think so! This week-end, I'm hoping to focus on their room with their help.

I ended up dozing on the couch and I didn't mean to. The kids were all in the living room, playing the Wii or DSs for quiet time rather than watching a movie. I looked through an Avon book my friend dropped off and laid back cause my legs and back were sore from standing so much today and yesterday (that tells me I really don't do much when they are in school. sheesh.) I wasn't even tired yet i dozed off. Emily asked me something and immediately snapped me out of it! It was a really good rest though and while I'm still feeling tired, I think I can manage to make it to a decent bedtime rather than have a late nap and be up til 12 again (2 nights in a row. ack.)

Going to get going on supper. Pasta, again, but it looks really easy and then I'll cook up some chicken that dh will get from the store on his way home. I made this lasagna yesterday that was dee-lish! Tonight, it's rose sauce, I think (tomato and cream sauce.)

My kitchen is decent!! Having the kids home and using lots of dishes means I'm more on top of it.

Also, talked to dh about how sick I am of being disorganized and hopefully I can get him on the same page of going through everything we own, organizing everything and labelling it and purging lots. We have so many freakin' screwdrivers. Really, how many do you need?! At least 2 of them are the 8 heads in 1 kind of deals (actually, maybe 3.) Then so many sets of them as well.

Another thing, we may be getting rid of the fridge from our garage! We were asking $100 as it's about 10 years old and has some rust in the water spot shelf thingy but dh accepted $75. I really don't know if we're ripping ourselves off... ah well, it's $75 cash in our pocket and one appliance down! Ooo, that reminds me, I'm going to quickly make a purge list!

I'm doing pretty good here. A little later than I was hoping to go to bed and I actually was going to conk out at 8:30 with Timmy but I'm so glad I pushed through it and did some more cleaning. I've gotten into the habit of sleep coming first, which is how it should be somewhat but that's what got me into the mess of having a super cluttered, disorganized and messy house. It's embarrassing while doing daycare. We aren't living in garbage but I really should have placed more importance on picking up and cleaning the well-used areas. I really hope this is a habit that sticks.

The guy took the fridge for $75 so we were happy!! He had his landlord with him (I believe the fridge was bought by him) and the landlord saw the washer and dryer in our garage and wanted those too. So, he took those for $100. Yay! My garage is looking so bare yet there's so much stuff still in there. lol

Dishes are washed, a few in the drying rack still. Counters cleared and wiped. Upstairs swept minus kitty room (dh is going to scoop the litter and then sweep.) Girls' room is picked up a little bit. Living room is straightened and swept. I think that's about it.

Oh, thank goodness Andrew checked the dryer before they took it. There was a load in it from before we moved!!! Mostly T's blankets but I also found the single duvet cover I had been missing. So, I'm quite happy though not so happy about another load of laundry to put away. augh

Soo, all in all, it's been a good night. The kids were good, we avoided eating out, made some money and decluttered big items and the house is looking fairly decent. Still far from where I'd like it but hey, this is one step in the right direction. Of course, I've been snacking like a mad man on junk so that's a bad thing. I gotta get this junk out of my house.

Going to just wipe the sink and see if there's anything else to do before heading to bed. I feel bad leaving dh up to do the stuff I asked him to do but I should let go of that cause he's not complaining.

Not sure how much I'll be around tomorrow but hope you had a great night!

hi Sara
how is your new habit going?  congrats on getting rid of big stuff plus making good money!
been sleeping day for me.  lying around.  i think i finally slept off all the "tired" - probably caused by way too much sugar.  we don't drink on new year's eve but after last night where we just played board games and watched movies with the kids, i woke up feeling hungover and the house looked like a bunch of drunk monkeys broke in and had a house party.  scott said it looked like some big party took place too lol.  we can be really messy even when we don't try!  i need to recover the house now that i'm recovered.  i think that's the only goal for today even though i originally wanted to get christmas packed up completely too.  now that i've slept while dh worked on scouts and watched a movie, by the time i'm ready to work he'll want to nap.  right now he's playing a game with the kids though - we bought them the "dangerous book for boys" or something like that a long time ago and in toys r us we saw the game on clearance so we played it last night.  i didn't think it was all that bad and the kids love it so scott is playing it with them - he really likes it too.  there are challenges like tying a knot, making paper airplanes, etc. in addition to regular board game stuff.

i'll check in later or tomorrow to see how you are doing...

Um, what's my new habit?! lol I'm dead tired but will try to get my dishes done before bed tonight. It's been a blah kind of day. Really slow start and then we went to see Bedtime Stories. We got a call from Andrew's friend (who had his 7 yr old daughter today) and invited him to it. They've been here every since. augh Though really, it's been a good day and I dont' knwo what we'd do if they weren't here so it's been nice. I wanted the girls in bed about an hour ago though...

I got a call from Laura and Gavin's mom and they aren't coming tomorrow! woohoo! I wasn't going to take off the day even though Andrew took it off but I was hoping something like this would happen. I'm so stinkin' happy! A 4 day week-end before getting back into the school thing!

I've seen that Dangerous book and wondered what it was about. That game sounds really cool and something dh would love though don't think our girls would be totally keen on it.

Oh, I think they're leaving now so time to put a sleeping Timmy in bed (he's in my arms) and get my girls to bed.

Augh, I'm having some freak out issues. I was hoping to get SO much more organized and decluttered and yet here we are, 2 days before the routine starts up again and not much has been done. The house is messy (and I haven't done dishes since Thurs), we have some places to go today and dh is super busy with side work. The Christmas stuff is still up with the tree shedding like mad. Tomorrow will have to be a cleaning day but I really don't know how much I'll get done as I'll be on kid duty AND cleaning duty, most likely. argh

We're sick with colds again. This is getting frustrating! I think that's why I've been in a bad mood lately. I'm just tired of being sick and dealing with sick kids.

I hope you're doing well. You had a family shin-dig yesterday, right Joni? How did that go?

Ok, gotta get the kids ready so we can head out. I'm trying REALLY hard not to lose it on dh as he's sleeping in (not sure when he went to bed but I went to bed at 1 and he was still working) and he kept the kids quiet while I napped for an hour and a half yesterday. Sleeping in means he just gets to hop out of bed, get dressed and be ready for the day while I have to get me and the 3 kids ready. At least 2 of them can get dressed on their own (and they are, amazingly! lol)

Trying REALLY hard not to be panicky cause if we dont' get all the decluttering done this week-end, there WILL be other times so I can't feel like it's the end of the world. Ideally, just dealing with the Christmas stuff and going to bed tomorrow night with a straightened, basic clean house should be my goals.

hey hug your family tonight and say a little prayer.  we were in a hit and run by a drunk driver on our way home from meemaw's.  luckily scott was driving and saved us by quick thinking - if i were driving we may not have made it home.  we are okay though.  the guy ditched his barely drive-able SUV and ran into the woods.  lots of drama with police helicopters and whatnot looking for him.  i'm getting ready to go get my foot x-rayed but it's probably fine.  the guy lost control around a curve and scott managed to avoid a head-on collision and a telephone pole - we were airborne into a cornfield but still got struck on the side right behind chane.

Oh my word!! I got the shivers reading that. I'm SO thankful you guys are ok! That makes me so freakin' mad that someone would think they are ok to drive and then not take responsibility for causing an accident like that.

How were the kids?! Is anyone sore today? I hope your foot is ok and that this doesn't cause more aggrevation with your legs.

If the guy ditched his car, I'd assume he'd be easy to catch and eventually charge, no?

Man, I'll definitely be praying for you and your family cause I can imagine the what ifs are running through your head.

we are all sore but my foot is just sprained.  i'm on crutches but can't really use them because of the arthritis in my shoulders - my weight is just too much for my shoulders to support :-(  so i'm hopping instead.  i really only hurt my foot if my knee comes out further than my ankle so i'm trying to do things like go down steps and sit on the toilet kind of sideways to avoid making more than a 90 degree angle with my knee over my foot.  does that make sense?  i'm not supposed to put weight on it but honestly weight on it doesn't seem to bother it, just that certain position makes it crunch or pop and then it hurts all the way up to my hip.  figures it would be another weird thing lol.

i'm assuming they can catch the guy but i don't know if they managed to catch him while he was still drunk.  so they may only be able to charge him with hit and run instead of drunk driving.  assuming he was drunk - that's just an assumption on our part.  it wasn't his car - it was registered to a woman but there was a paystub on the seat they're assuming was his.  i didn't see his car and neither did scott - he ditched it about 1/4 mile up the road - the front tire was almost off so i guess he drove it as far as he could before he took off running.  witnesses saw him get out and run.  scott's family came to get us and they saw the truck.  even in the dark driving down the road where there's probably lots of stuff to see, they noticed it sitting in a lot and apparently it was damaged enough they could tell exactly which car it was.  i said he ditched his car up the road and they were like, yeah, we saw it.

i'm trying not to think of what could have happened.  if we'd been one second sooner or later where his car might have hit ours, if scott had reacted one bit differently - the telephone pole was right in my face and then it was gone.  i keep thinking what if we'd hit it or what if the guy had hit farther up and hurt chane more.  his door handle was sheared off - the paramedics had to get him to open his door from the inside. and i keep seeing him walking off with the paramedics all scared.  true, he wasn't carried off and for that i'm thankful but it hurt to see him and i couldn't get out of the car (i could have but they told me to stay put) so i had to yell for scott to go walk with him - scott checked on us and then immediately jumped out and started running after the other car to get its license plate so he was then out of that car from that moment on.  onstar came on and got the emergency vehicles - we were on a country road so they were able to give coordinates because we knew what road we were on but had no idea where to tell them to come.  yay for onstar - i was against renewing when the free trial period ran out but now we will.

i have a cold now - it started yesterday.  i was miserable all night but feel a little better right now.  i'm going to try to focus this morning.  i have a ton of calls to make - all important and non related to each other.  it's a big thinking week - i have to call the college and the police and the insurance company and the bus company about that job and a couple of other places that i can't remember right now - luckily i made a list of them yesterday because i knew i'd forget!  and a big creative week - we need to start on pinewood derby cars and the lego stuff for c's party and the pinewood derby trophies.  i did manage to force myself to sit down and get the invitations made yesterday - they're pretty cute.  a lego guy in a car and it says "come help chane build some memories" and i glued that on a piece of cardstock i already had and the other side has the particulars glued on so they were free - i made them to fit into envelopes i already have in my card drawer.  they are all cut out and ready to mail once i find out addresses for all the school kids he wants to invite - i'm not inviting every boy in the class since i'm up to 17 kids already so i have to get actual addresses to mail invitations.

not starting my diet today i don't think.  i feel way too crappy but i'm not going to eat a bunch of junk.  some grease though - i always need grease when i have a cold!  i'll probably have hamburgers and slushees - not healthy but at least not just shoveling in gumballs and hersheys' kisses and stuff.  i hope!

going to go over to your next post and start there.  sorry i'm babbling!

Ah, i can picture how you get around (walking sideways.) Man, that can NOT be fun :( Well, hopefully they'll catch the guy, regardless, and charge him with something. Ideally, he'd get the drunk driving charge but to look at some good in this, maybe this will shake him up and he won't drive drunk again?!

Were you driving in your van? How damaged is it? That's great about Onstar! We always see/hear the commercials and kind of make fun of it, thinking it's a waste of money but your situation definitely shows the good in it! If we ever buy a vehicle with it, I'll have to look into subscribing to it.

Man, what a busy week you have! Those invitations sound awesome and you made 17 of them?!

I should head over to my other post and set up a plan cause this day is totally wasting away and I haven't done much at all :(

Hopefully MSN will let me post this!
