The pguy (Charles) has brought to the surface a talent he has always carried with him. The art of working with his hands, doing very intricate and detailed work. The Mantis was actually inspired by mw's daughter, Snow, when she asked Charles if he could make her a miniature lizard, after seeing one of his spiders. He said "Sure! I can make a lizard!" He made a lizard for Snow. Hence, the inspiration for a whole new, unique art form. Making insects out of fine wheat or broom straws, and glue...Welcome to ~ BUG ARTE ~ |

This is actually his second Mantis. I believe our (((Grizz))) now has it displayed at his house. Thank you for the nice, up-close compliments, Grizz! As he says, with these miniatures, the pictures can not speak for themselves. Notice his prey...a tiny spider. The Mantis body is part of a wooden skewer, the rest is broom fibers and carpenter's wood glue. The inside of his head is actually a pot seed... The spider's body is a tiny cotton pompom/ball, and he's also made of fibers and glue. MANTISFEST |

I think I'd have to put that under glass - I'd be afraid someone would squoosh it before realizing it wasn't real. Absolutely beautiful work! Congratulations on finding your talent!!! |
