I've been finding these things here and there, buried in other groups and one x one, bringing them back here... I've burned the ones that were all printed out... so I'd be forced to make a fresh start... there were 2 manilla envelopes stuffed full, lol... pounds of em!  The only one I miss?  One called WITHERED WINGS.  Maybe it's in some archives somewhere;  perhaps even this one... will go see some day. starry

THE WARRIOR

The Other's painted pony
seemed to fly above the sage
like a gliding hawk,
close to earth
but of it not.
His own horse
beat upon the ground,
rattling teeth
within his sweating head.
His warrior's heart drummed
with excitement, fear and dread.
This was not just coup,
this was real and hard
and very dangerous.
His raven braids behind him flew,
tapped upon his shoulders
like Father Spirit's fingers,
reminding,
"Be afraid for you"!
There were grunts
and cries of anguish
from both warriors
and both beasts
as they came together, jousting,
each straining to defeat.
The Other's painted pony
came to earth and trotted past.
The Other bled upon the sand,
his spear stood in their chest at last.
He crouched to take the Other's hair,
a scalping that he'd earned..
was struck with awe and shame
when he undressed
the truth and saw the Other's maiden breasts.
