One small stream of sunlight lit
upon my dressing table.
Reflecting crystal prisms dance
like gemstones in a fable.
Sparkling, shimmering, dots of light
spread on the walls of blue
across my quilted feather bed
with roses of pink hue.
I marveled at this fairylike
beginning to the day
that came to me through curtains drawn
to keep the sun away.
