If you have great eyesight...  look at the ledges over there on Witham Mountain... and then... look straight up!  On the rim... see a needlely little tiny spire sticking up into the sky?  Take your time. It's there. That's a wind speed test tower; one of six, most that we can see from our North facing windows... if wind speeds up there are great enough, it will be replaced with a wind turbine; roughly twice as tall.  Our little Plantation will host a wind farm!!  I love going green as a community and I love that our taxes will be nill if this project goes in...   lol !!

We did that today....   beautiful forenoon!  After visiting Kasey & her 14 sled dogs,  we drove half way up, then hiked a good bit... could see our place from up there...    this is such good country... how I love having inherited it.

I noticed it even before I read your text Starry!  lol .... anyway its pretty cool to have them big old mills going round n round nearby.  When I was a driver I had the oppertunity to deliver some parts for em in nearby evanston wy. and YES they are HUGE.... the blades alone are 100 ft. long!  Made for a very interesting drive to get em up to the top of the hill ...... scary at times, but worth it!

We have several "wind farms" down here.  One is about 30 miles from here on the way to Palm Springs.  Another, and much larger, is north of here towards Bakersfield.  They are awesome!  And I love knowing that something so simple as "wind" is providing so much electricity.  There is also a solar farm in the desert on the way to Las Vegas.  Those, combined with hydro power are, hopefully, one of our roads to independence from fossil fuels.

CB, back when you planned your high and hot (after just leaving AK!) Oregon whatever hike, I tried to induce you here to our trails, where there were mountains, melting snow drifts ( 6' deep!) and a visit with me.... could I interest you?  Nooooooooooooo...  lol
