the circumstances at hand...I believe thats what I am going to have to do with my dad now that my stepmom is ill. they are going to need some help and I will be the one to do it...I guess he would have stopped by here last night but Joey was here...its going to be hard to deal with this bitter man in a kind loving way...I hope I can do it!

Chemy, I deal with my awful mother in sensible, business-like, compassionate way... but not loving... can you muster loving?  You're a better woman than me if you can...  I wish you didn't expect it of yourself, though.

hang in Chemy - things will even out and you will do only as much as you possibly can.  They can't ask any more of you than that.

You will do fine Chemy. Just don't expect miracles or for him to suddenly turn all warm and fuzzy. Do what Star does, be compassionate and as kind as you can manage.

well it wasn't so bad...he needed someone to talk to so we talked for a bit and then I did the dishes and took the trash out...it was easy enough...he wouldn't let me cook for him...oh well...

Something I had to come to grips with... and maybe you do, too... I don't know about that... but, in my case, it FINALLY dawned on me that the parent figure I'd trusted, looked up to, and tried to please for too long... was less intelligent and less good than I.

sigh...yes starry I think its true on both accounts with my parents...and its ok after years of therapy I realize they did the best they could and I have learned alot from them...some that was so unintentionally taught through the "less likable" parts of them...created better parts of me...
