The greenhouse - well, one of them - before the renovations started.....I had his brain fart of an idea that I wanted to add this room to the bedroom so we could see all the plants and such - so that's what started it all.

Now the tree in the far corner has been cut down and I am starting over with the plants.....they summered outside and I just pulled them in for winter the other night - they are piled one on top of each other in my kitchen currently......and this shot looks into that room now.

I've sanded the windows - they will stay trimmed in the redwood.  The built in cabinet will have doors over two sets of drawers - lol where the tools are, and a door over the laundry basket thing.  The little piece in the middle is a small bookshelf and there is one on the opposite side of the wall too - in the greenhouse.

The part showing now looks back into the bedroom.  I'm gonna put all my gardening and plant books on these bookshelves.  The door toward the windows is all new add on - and I got these three most beautiful Pella windows for this part....wowow, they are cool!

They are all icky and covered with plastic at the moment, but outside I painted them to match the house trim - bright, bright dark blue and bright purple and up under the eaves is a pale sky blue.  A couple of chairs and the television will go down at this end.

And this looks back the other way at the bedroom fireplace.  We now have room for a couple of nice comfy chairs, table and lamp to read by there as we sit and watch the fire.  To the right is the bedroom door - all covered with plastic at the moment (has a very neat glass transom window at the top) and to the left will be a closet with another built in set of drawers and a tile countertop (to match two other built in closets in the house).  Just to the left of that closet is the door to the bathroom.

The bed is going exactly opposite the built in piece -------> that wall over there - so I can look out and see all my plants - once again!

I need Jess to come help me with my color schemes.....I'm going with greens!

and, I will be so glad when this project is over.....lol, although it is a tad better than the kitchen project when I had to do dishes in my bathtub for 2 months!

Yo Ros.  Where in the world do you find the energy.

You do more by accident than I do with a full time 'busting' from a determined wife!

   Here's a little something to snack on;

What a beautiful space you have there Ros.

What in the world did you do with all the plants during the reno?    Put them all over the house?     Isn't that going to create some kinda void once they all go back?   Like - oooooooh, didn't that one look nice right there.....

I see that many plants together and my stomach starts to hurt.    All I see is responsibility and probability of death.   I soooooo do not have a green thumb.   When I moved into this house there were plants that were so hardy the stringers ran all over the ceiling of the sunroom - but around the end of last winter all the stringers died, and I've had to start over.

...then there's the dust factor...     Having to clean off every leaf because they look like their being choked by housedust...

sigh.

Looks to me that you don't have those particular fears with plants.    I'm kinda jealous about that.    (think I could find a support group to get over all of this???)

Waving at Janie........     Hi there!!!

Gawd but your place is clean alla time, PJ.    Mine's such a tiff in comparison!   Just too much stuff here.

Ros!    I'm confused!     I saw the pic of  "your two girls" in the coffee thread, but thought I'd read in here that you didn't have children.   If you and your husband have been together forever  (house bought 30yrs ago).....      I just know I've missed the info that puts all this together - but haven't a clue where to look for it.

See how easily I get lost???

A decor like PJ's might be a good thing for me.   Clean and easy to get around in!!!

LOL Monty - the girls are mine - they even call me mom ~ Momdi to be exact - but I was there for it all - except conception - lol - get the picture?  My best friend and his wife did the deed, but these girls stayed every weekend with hubby and I for the first 10 years of their lives from the time they came home from hospital....lol.  They are growing up so fast, they don't have much time for me any more - boohooo.....they stay at their friends' houses for sleepovers now.  But they will always be mine.  Jesse and Jade....Jesse's name is "Pumpkin" and Jade, I call "Jaders" or "tippy toe" - she likes that one best.

Here's a pic of me and them together a few summers ago.....they will always be my babies!

PeeJay - love that classic look with the white trim - that is what I am going to do in the new bedrooms and hallway....all white trim top and bottom and chair rail at 3 feet.  Your red leather chair looks great with the fireplace.

I'd be scared to get that nice pretty white carpet you have there though.

Sweet story, Ros.    How great for everyone involved that you get to be there to that extent for these girls.

Sorry if I made you repeat - if indeed you had to - but I just knew there was a story in there that I'd missed.     Thanks!

Only thing that scares me more than the responsibility of keeping hoards of houseplants alive is a clean white carpet!       Shudder!!!!

Monty - if you look back to post 3 I was trying to show Grizzer the greenhouse windows, but it's a pic of my garden this year.  I have a total green thumb and hubby is a master gardener!

The plants summered outside on the back porch and I just brought them in this past week when we our first slight freeze.  That is why they are stacked in my kitchen at the moment.

In the greenroom, I have two planter beds set in the brick floor - not sure if you can see that or not, so I have water spigots inside.  I just hook up a hose and clean them all with a shower.  The water soaks right back up into the brick floor so that's how I keep them clean and add moisture to the room, and I have some cross ventilation with a couple small windows that open.

Pluto - my energy is zapped at the moment....dealing with a lung issue and a female issue both right now, so geesh, I am hiring contractors for most everything.  I started the painting, but last night hubby said he wants to keep the same guys on that did the walls to do the painting.  Their work was fast, efficient and very well done.  I am thinking of taking him up on that.  I love your snacks - always!
