just to let you know i'm still around. just not on much since i'm back to using enternet cafe...gotta rock and roll...oh, its in the 90's here and i love my little concrete house. and my two guard dogs...well, have no choice on that. they decided they were going to guard me weither i want them too or not...

and i see alot of nissanka. every day. and every night...not sure how he did it. but he chased Nirosh away...and everyone else. so now only on Fridays, i have cocktail nights. and his friends come over then for free drinks.

it was just too costly for me to keep feeding and providing drinks for his friends every single night. Nissanka still not a drinker. i'm so glad of that.

have a great week everyone!!!!

Just so you don't have to wait too long for that answer Grizz -    I believe she's there waiting till the season starts.    She had to come back for the 90day sign-in to keep her union status, but headed back south until the work starts in Alaska again.

Unless I've missed something - which is entirely possible.

BTW- Chops!!!     Sounds like a better deal if you're going to be there for so long to not have to keep the entire neighbourhood afloat every time you want to see Nissanka.   Cool!

Enjoy!!!

wow a week past?  that was fast..nissanka friend Nirosh...the government gave Nirosh a  free house. brand new, town house style. i been helping him and his family get settled and bought them a china cabinet for the tiny two bedroom, two story house. his wife went into tears she was so excited. only furniture they have is a few plastic chairs and one bed. i took her into a wood store and let her pick what she wanted. i never heard such excited chattering going on between her and her husband. he tried to talk her into getting a dresser with mirror for their bedroom. but she went on and on about the china cabinet...how it will give her a place to put her dishes etc.   i told nirosh, to let her pick what she wants. only a woman know what they can use....right?

do i like his new place...hell no...the back yard is a wall of mud...they dug a hole in the hill and build the 4 plex style town house. if a heavy rain fall, i can see that wall of mud  caving into the home. i gave him a bag of concrete mix so he can make a small padio out front. and something out back. the home is unfinished. no plaster on the brick walls etc. no running water. the villiager has to go for a nice walk to get water from a well. the tiny kitchen is just a concrete brick in room. with a small counter. no sink. only a small place to put a coleman two burner stove.

sri lankan people, very few. and very few at that have use of a coleman stove or frigeration. they useally use wood burning to cook, and put their produce on the floor. most don't have shelves.

women walking with water jugs on their heads. their long skirts dragging in the dusty dirt. long black hair in a pony tail. the wide smiles on their thin faces...

men riding bicycles yelling marlo marlo...for fish. people go outside to look in the wood crate tied to his bicycle to pick and choose little tiny fishes.

the area is  very beautiful, in the rice paddy section. nissanka and i go biking threw there alot.

 What gets me is "
women walking with water jugs on their heads. their long skirts dragging in the dusty dirt. long black hair in a pony tail. the wide smiles on their thin faces...
".

In the USA there sure wouldn't be any smiles on faces about it..lol. Shows we're pretty spoiled here.

i'm so sore!!!! my shoulders and upper back is killing me. and i don't know why!!!!

hi everyone.

i bought nissanka a american fishing pole. you know, the kind that has a reel thingie..and the other day, i tried to teach nissanka how to use it. and instead i ended up wanting to box his ears in. he made me so mad!!! what is it with men. they don't like to listen or pay attention!!!! i got so fed up i went to sun bath. we were on our rock that we had snorkled out to.  laying there burning to a crisp...next thing i know, he holloring. i jump up and saw that he had tossed the fishing pool on the rock and was pulling the line with his hands. he was so excited ... he caught a hugh fish...why he didnt' reel it up is beyond me. but he did get the fish...looking at the pretty colorful thing laying on the rock gasping for air. i just wanted to toss it back into the water. but i know, his family needed it for food. so i watch it gasp its life away. i was about in tears over it.

the people, they are always smiling...i'm not...not when i have to bike around these idiot women with the gigantic unbrellas. they are so inconsiderate. its not even raining. and they are walking in the middle of the road with the things. you can't get around them...wonder what they would do if i just ran my bike into them...that would make me very happy. ...

the other day, i was standing with my bike on the side of the road  trying to figure out what nissanka trying to tell me when two ladies walked by and her fooking umbrella hit my head and got tangle in my hair.

i got a real rude email from a bud of mine. he asked me if we celebrate thanksgiving or xmas here. i told him no. he made the remark for me to go celebrate my blessing on a cow!!!! i was so pissed off and asked him why he said that. he said, he thought all buddhist consider cows secrete. yeah right...right into their cooking pot!!!! only thing is. here its so costly for them to buy beef. they are looking at about a day wages for two pounds of beef.  i emailed him to tell him that the daily wages of most people here is $5. day, and if they are very skilled maybe up to $8. day. beef and chicken is expensive. i bought 2 1/2 chickens yesterday and it cost me almost $10.00.

i think thats why most buddhist are veggies. cus they can't afford beef or chicken. they do eat alot of fish. and rice. veggies. etc. home made curry made with pineapples. the muslim people seem to be doing much better then buddhist with businesses. and they eat very well.

on full moon day...the buddhist close shops. and celebrate by not eating FISH..they don't even go fishing on that day. everything seems to come to a standstill. and they have their parades in different parts of the country. i will never understand why they like to walk up the street at 3 am banging on the drums with their elephants. its errie sounding...them beating away, the shadow of the hugh elephants, the wild dogs howling...people (ladies) walking out of their house in their white granny pajamas, to the street with a plate of offerings. "Rice" i think...

i heard last week that they had arrested 13 women suicide bombers. i dont' know any more details about it. they were headed into colombo...i asked nissanka how can they tell if the women are tamile or buddhist...he says, by name on ID....all tamile have to register if they move to the colombo area.

on death...yeah that...when a buddhist person bites the dust. they bury with in 48 hours. and one week later. for two days. they serve lunch and people gather at the home for hours on end. again at 3 months and final, one year. i was invited to attend lunch today at Tharunga house. she my dancing teacher. her grand mother passed away last weds. i went to her home for my class and asked was everyone was smiling. a man whisper about the death...i asked them...is that funny? everyone started laughing...i'm thinking...this is totally weird. i told her we to cancel dance class. she needs to be griefing. not laughing. she laughs again and say ok. we meet later.

then yesterday, i meet up with a bunch of guys sitting in a old school. they are laughing and drinking arrack. (whiskey) i asked why so happy. a death? they laugh and said yes. a death, but we are not happy they said, with a hugh smile. then they offer me drink but nissanka told me NO...

wow, i'm totally rambling on....and nissanka outside waiting on me. hell, i'll let him wait a few more minutes!!!
