Why should the people who are wanting the supreme court to overturn proposition 8 believe that they have more of a voice than the voters who decided to vote down on it.??

Democracy only good enough for when its oiling the right wheel??
I am confused...why vote if special interest groups can get it overturned anyway?

I totally agree w you jess, and in fact, moonie and I were having this same discussion just a couple of days ago! It doesnt make good sense, why even vote on it, if theyre gunna say, "sry about your luck, chuck"!
I think also, that if someone feels that they have backing, theyre much more likely to throw their weight around, and try to squish the other person that has wants. I see it all the time w non-smokers, stepping all over the smokers rights too.
I just dont get it either, why one person, or group would think that they have more rights than another. Stupid, crazy-making times!

I do wish that prop 8 hadn't passed.   But it did and you said it right Jess...the people have spoken..so that's that until the next vote.  Times change at a pace that shouldn't be forced in this way...by going over the people's heads.  It just makes those opposing more resentful.  Democracy isn't perfect but it is the best option out there in my opinion.

Pisses me off also. Right or wrong, the people have put it up to a vote and it was passed. Deal wiffit (as a former boss used to say). The time to argue the constitionality and fairness of it was before the elections and at the polling booths. The people have spoken...deal wiffit.

It's interesting to see people fight about things like this...my rights have been violated, your rights have been violated...for every vote or measure that protects one side, it squishes the other side.  Who's to say whose rights are more important than others?  How do you protect group A without violating the rights of group B?
