Apologies to the Civil Rights Movement but just had to let y'all know I got my central heating fixed at last. Over three months took more than thirty calls to twenty plumbers most of whom did not even bother to call back. Three days off work and two Saturdays waiting in for plumbers who did not turn up or call to say they were not gonna turn up and then stopped answering their phones. Last one that didn't turn up a few Saturdays ago I called his home and his wife said sorry he was at work. To which I replied I thought his work that day was me. Turned out I was wrong and not even an apology.
Finally found one who came to quote when called. Phoned to say he would be late, turned up when expected (yesterday morning), admired my decorating taste and did a great job. Plus he was cute and even had very tasty builders backside to admire.
Mind you the fact that I told him when he came to quote that if he did not turn up I would find out where he lived and make his life a misery might have helped
As a bonus he knows "an old boy" who will do odd jobs and gave me his number.
That's just so unprofessional for some of these plumbers to do you this way. Well mark them off your list of plumbers to call if/and when problmes arise w/this. Also, if you got the extra time on your hands, report them to the Better Business Bureau. This will help others out when it comes time to call a plumber. I normally check out businesses thru the BBB when it comes to retaining services.
An aquaintenace of mine's hubby is a plumber and this man makes googads of money she tells me. I guess he's one of the few plumbers who actually show up for their appointments.
the reason they do not turn up is cos they have so much work. They take on jobs just in case one falls through and when it doesnt fall through they just dont turn up to the "just in case" job.
