Here's one. Acute Leukemia... when white blood cells run amock and clump up in bone marrow blocking healthy production of red cells... death ensues within just weeks / months, if undiagnosed. Early diagnosis is key to survival. My old classmate and neighbor, a 65 year old lady & her husband went for physicals: husband got a call within days that he had Acute Leukemia. A follow up test revealed that, no.. he was fine: it had been a false positive. Should have been end of story, but his wife got paler & paler, weaker & weaker & is now near death in an ICU. Noone thought about the blood vials maybe being mixed up. |
