I swear that Slither-ina is showing some signs of,  if not intelligence,  at least trust!  She stays right still,  while Steve plucks sticks of wood from all around her & I flash her.  lol   I like this close-up.
 
 
...and  she's not the only critter to seek safe refuge in the woodpile...  look!
 
 
Steve is sharp eyed and saw these spider toes before he lifted the stick...  called to me... and I wasn't able to get too good a shot, for the angle, the colors and for fear she might jump at me,  because she's guarding her babies! After I tried to shoot her... lol... he gently carried stick,  family and all,  to a safe, under cover spot.  She never moved while we were messing around with taking pictures, but when he lifted the stick,  she rose right up on tippy toes, snugging the egg sac close to her abdomen & threatening to bolt.  But she didn't.   Her eyes are high on her head.

The close shot of the snake is incredible!  And you have to look really, really close to see the spider.  He's well-camoflaged, isn't he!  Good job!!!
