I don't know what creature made the cocoon of silk and wild strawberry leaves,  but I love the picture for it's resemblance to one of our OWN babies and it reminds me to treat EVERYTHING'S baby gently.

Just this morning, I accidentally crushed a fragile new hornet's nest with their embryoes inside... this hornet and a 2nd one,  pitifully tried to get at the babies for a longggg time... I felt TERRIBLE!

These are beautiful!  The worm rolled up in the leaf at the top...brought back childhood memories it seems I've forgotten!  You know my folks were fisher"people", and I remember us pullings these "grubs" from the trees for bait.

By the way, we always ate all the fish we caught.  There were five of us kids, and we'd save money by doing things like eating the fish, frog legs, rabbits, and deer.  I don't believe in killing for sport.  No way.  To eat?  Yes....
