| | | Cooking fun for kids who like to cook! Easy recipes to get kids off the couch, away from the TV, and into the kitchen. | SAFETY FIRST * Always let a grown-up watch you cook. * Always point the handles of pots towards the center of the stove. * Never leave the kitchen when something is cooking. You never know what could happen! * Stand way back from foods that are frying on the stove top - they could spatter and give you a grease burn. * If you spill something on the floor, clean it up right away so you don't slip. * Walk with a knife down by your side, not out. What if you trip? * If you drop a knife, don't try to catch it. You might grab it by the wrong end! * Use electric appliances away from water. * If you're walking with a hot pot in your hands, say "HOT" to warn others not to bump you. * If you burn yourself, run cold water over the burn as soon as possible and tell your grown-up. * Wash hands with hot soapy water often. * Don't eat raw eggs. * Use oven mitts to handle hot pots. * Cook food to a safe temperature. Use a food thermometer to check the temperature. * Don't let raw meat touch any other foods. Use a different cutting board for the raw meat. * Don't lick your fingers, rub your eyes, or sneeze on the food when you're cooking. * You'll love this one - clean as you go so you don't have a BIG mess to clean afterwards!
