I'm not for one moment advocating using the doll as the only way of dealing with this. It was merely an 'optional extra.'

I'm a little disappointed the Police have been unable to do anything. This freak is a rape waiting to happen.

They don't deem it serious enough yet.  They may well be watching him, but I'm not sure that's enough.  He needs a serious scare from some seriously pissed off people.  The fact that he's getting a little more deviant with Jordyn AND that he approached Lulu AFTER he tricked Jordyn to giving away Lulu's bebo addy is enough as far as I am concerned.

Thank God Lulu as a strong sense of self-preservation and a dislike of "dirty old men" of near biblical proportions.  And she blab's everything to her mother - else I'd have been none the wiser.  Bless her wee heart.

I didn't know if we had entrapment here, but any good lawyer would use that scenario to their client's advantage.  Don't forget - crims have more rights then victims in this country!

Hey Karey, Luke is on Bebo but he has it so he has to let people in to view his profile. He only accepts friends and family.  It is closed to anybody else, same with most of his friends accounts.  Maybe you should see if you can change the girls to that sort of membership.  It cuts out all the freaks and predators.

I've been making noises about it, but they aren't keen because the rest of their friends aren't.  Both have accounts where they have to accept a message before it will be displayed though which cuts out a lot of crap.  The thing is this freak tricked Jordyn into giving him Lulu's member name (so he could delete her from his list) on MSN,  when in fact, knowing she was younger, he tried to add her after talking to Jordyn.

Especially for Lulu it would be good.  There friends only have to apply once to be an accepted visitor.  And they can have as many friends as they like.  Just the freaks that are locked out.

All sorts of security issues with kids chatting on an open forum worry me.  Letting people know when you're going on holiday etc. People can get a pretty good idea of empty houses or if parents work during the day.  Thieves and the like would love finding somebody they could get inside info on.  A bit like this Bar.  We are all much more open in here than we would be on an open forum. Kids just dont realise what they are giving away as they chat to friends if anybody can access it.
Bullies from school and the neighbourhood can be shut out too.  One boy from up north a bit got a bit nasty with Luke and a few others, calling them wankers or faggots or something. The kids all locked him out and suddenly he had no friends to chat to.  He actually had to pull his head in and say sorry with no parent even having to do a thing. Best way I have ever seen a bad attitude dealt with.  He was older and bigger than the rest and got put nicely in his place no trouble.  We are remote and the local kids really rely on Bebo.

In view of this last episode of the lass going missing in Christchurch, we have been looking at our grandkids bebo/myspace/facebook etc.  Every one of them has too much information on their sites, and every one of their friends has too much on theres also.  We have discussed it with the kids, and then told them they must delete their sites, or remove the information.  They have chosen to delete them.

Im finding it difficult to comprehand how parents allow their kids to have these pages now.  So much doubt surrounds the users of these sites, the dangers around them stands out so much.

We tell the kids not to talk to strangers etc, to protect themselves.  We think thats what they are doing, but they are NOT.

Social networking?? Bullshit, this is for grooming young kids, I'd be appalled that parents are continuing to allow their kids to use these sites.

Hear what you say Lovelee, but many kids refuse to listen.
I read between the lines with this missing girl, and get an implication that she was fairly wilful.
Somewhere along the track with a headstrong child, it becomes better to allow a bit of leeway and know where the kids are - even though you dont like it - than have them going there behind your back.

Or am I dribbling?

Any teenager, wilful or not, will simply go underground if banned from something as socially popular as bebo.

mmm... just did a couple of searches.
Nothing on facebook for my Heather but typing in Heather and our surname (which is unusual) in bebo came up with a entry where the only details visible were female and age (33). Coincedence? maybe but..........
I think I need to ask a Heather if she is signed up on Bebo and do a little digging.

She chats to her friends on MSN regularly but is carefull to blank the screen when she spots me looking over her shoulder

mmm... after a quick word with her I have found Heather on Bebo and she is showing more than she thinks she is in her profile.

I wonder what she will say when I tell her I was able to find out her school, class and the fact she has be bullied - all that block of info is visible if you know what name to search for (easy peesy).....an the that the new friend asking to contact her is her mother!
After a little more sluthing I will have a wake up call for several of her friends as well.
