We will be going to Richards for Easter, so we are really excited about that.

The mowing is done, It only took two mornings to get all four lots cleaned up and mowed. We still need to finish the fenced in portion, where the dogs go, but that shouldn't be to hard.
It should go faster next time, and be a little easier too. My brother, Richard, has a rider mower, he is having worked on, for us to use. We had to do the whole thing with a push type this time. We are really tired and stiff, but it's over.

Now we can relax and enjoy looking at the yard.
So Let it rain tomorrow

The inside of the house is a different story though.
We have the living room painted, and are dragging our feet on the window trim, cause those will be replaced this summer. We are also waiting till we get to Tonyas, to get a carpet she is giving us. That should be big enough to do the living room floor. (I hope)
We have the bigger bedroom done except for the windows. All the windows in the house will need to be replaced.
We have those replacements in the garage, just waiting for some muscle to help.

I have a door on order for the back. The one that is there, is shot, and I'll be closing that off completely, and moving the new back door to the smaller bedroom. The back entry will be converted to a part of the bathroom, and will house the washer and dryer. There will also be closets in there, half will be for the linins, and half will be opened up on the other side for the bigger bedroom. The existing closet in that bedroom is half of the closet that now is in the living room.

That whole thing will be removed, and that area will be included in the living room space.

The ceiling in the bathroom is painted, and the two faucets have been replaced. There is a tub surround that will be put up for the shower area, and we need to remove some old tiles from the walls in that part.

We finally got the piano taken out. My bed even fits in that bedroom now LOLOL

Jaime has donated two beds for us, one single which is waiting to be picked up at moms, and another (double) that she plans to bring down at Easter. It sure will be nice to have permanent beds, instead of rollaways. The rollaways are more comfortable than I remember rollaways to be, though.

We brought the couch and loveseat in from the garage. They have a southwestern theme pattern on them. There were a couple of holes from mice, in the cushions, but we'll get those fixed one of these days. The holes aren't really big, so they are fixable.
We also brought one of the entertainment centers in from the garage, and one of the end tables. There are a lot of goodies out there, that are included with the house.

Everyone has been donating things, all the houshold stuff is donated by the family. Gloria and Mom and Shannon, have been on the lookout for things for several months. Gloria donated the dinnette set, and Richard has paid for the appliances, and Rob has a dryer and several other items for us, at his place. Mom has given us all kinds of canned and boxed goods. Shannon brought a whole car load of groceries for us. Mom, Shannon, and Gloria have been bringing curtains, towels, washcloths, sheets and blankets. Dishes and silverware, and almost anything else we could possibly imagine. Tonya had a long vertical blind, she has given us.

Everyone has donated paint and cleaning products. i'm sure glad we didn't have to buy any of that stuff. As it is money is in short supply. Hopefully that will begin to even out from now on too. Life is great.

We are so Blessed to have such a great family.
It would have been so hard to do all this, without them.
I just know I've missed some things, but you get the idea.

Well that's the update as of now.
Have a great Easter everyone.

Yesterday morning I got the linin closet shelves in
Since I'm using recycled materials, they will need some work yet.
But they look ok, for an amature.
There three that are adjustable, and I left enough room below the
bottom one for a Hamper to fit in there.

Now to get them washed and stocked. I'm sure glad that's done.

(still no pictures) I can't keep the batteries charged enough to take any when I'm ready.

No work today, appointments most of the day.

Annette is all moved and we are trying to find room to put stuff away

Well this morning I got the living room corner painted and will wait
until I have that corner of the ceiling finished off before I do any more
in there.

I got the linin closet shelves and everything inside, primed and done.
That's ready for the linin now.
And I primed the part of the new bedroom closet, that is finished.
When I get the old back door out and boarded up, and the sheetrock
on that wall, I can build the back of that closet and that will close off
the laundry room. Then I can get the seams mudded and painted,
and be done with that end of the laundry room. I will also be able to
permenantly attach the bedroom closet door frames. They are just there
to keep from getting broken up, right now.

I still need to prime and paint in the bedroom where I added the sheetrock
to close up the old closet door, and the old door to the back entry.
Then that room will be done.

It's getting closer, folks. and I'm so happy to be able to finally get
some stuff organized.
Spiritangel, Annette, has been cleaning up after me, and getting some things out
of the middle of the floors. And keep house for me. I'm such a messy person.

I'm tired, so no more today

Well here goes another update without pictures.....
The other day I got the two bedroom walls primed, but not painted yet.

Today we got the old back door out, and boarded up on the outside.
We ran out of caulk though, so we'll have to get more when we get
to town Friday. It should be ok though even if it rains, which it don't
look like right now.

I got the blankets all put in the linin closet, and some pillow cases.
I haven t' found the other sheets yet. They are in a box or bag somewhere.
I found some more bathroom rug sets though, so those will be stored tomorrow.

If we feel like it before we go to bed tonight, Annette and I will be
changing bedrooms. She will go back in the one she was in before she moved.
I will be in the one that is smaller, because I don't have all the animals that
take up the whole floor. LOLOL

On second thought, I think I'm too tired tonight to change rooms......

Well that's it for this time

I couldn't get my flash to work again, but here are some pix of parts of our work. (I didn't change the pix date so it's not Jan 1. LOLOL)

The first pix is of the boarded and primed 'former' back door,
and the new back door, (stoop added)
Sorry - the mess was still there from the 'door-ectomy'

When I cut the hole in the other side of the house for the patio door,
I'll have siding to cover the boards on this side.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Picture Number 2 is where the living room closet was, and is
now replaced with a new wall. The stuff hanging is old tv antenna wire,
coming from the attic. I'll cut that off and cover it with ceiling tile.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Picture #3 is a closeup of the ceiling, that still needs to be worked
on in the living room, where the old closet was.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This last Picture is of the new back door (inside view)

No flash, so the other pictures didn't show the bedroom walls
or the linin closet, or the inside view of the covering of the old back door.

Today the city crew came and tore down and hauled out the old
rickety shed. It was supported by a steel fence post at the back, and
some off shoots from stumps that were along each side of it. All that
remains now are the stumps and a concrete slab.

It looks pretty bare back there now. But it's so nice not to have to
look at that disaster waiting to happen.

A couple of days ago I got the inside wall of the old back entry door filled in. I haven't gotten it taped yet though.
I had a bout of the sleepys, and slept all day yesterday, after a night of wakefulness.
This sucks, can't do much without the light to work by, and the energy to make it happen.
Maybe I'll get my days and nights straightened out soon.

It's been so hot here, I haven't done much
Today I did get the inside of the wall mudded, and taped though.
and I finished sealing the cracks on the boards outside, with the silicone caulk I had. It was threatening to rain so I had to use what I had.
At least it's water proof now, and we did get a drop of rain.
Still had to water the tomatoes, though. It didn't rain enough for that.

Not too much updating to do, I've been slacking off

I got the frame for the bedroom closet put back in after covering the old back entry door opening with sheetrock.
I also trimmed it out so that part is done now. the inside of the closet will wait untill I get a washer and dryer, cause the bathroom door is too small to use for that. I'll have to enlarge it someday though. That will take moving some wiring first.

Today is sorting day in the garage, so I can get the cupboards unloaded from the van. They have been in there since Saturday, so it's about time I got them out.

My sister will be coming to help paint in the kitchen maybe tomorrow now. She is bringing the rest of the cupboards, and an interrior door. (all given to me by her landlord from thier remodeling project)
There is some more boards too. Every little bit helps my budget.
So I take all they want to give. I'll use it eventually on something.

We'll bring in the double bed that was given to me by my neice, and move the single to the other room. Then we can get the rollaway folded up, and out of the way.

We have a couple of more things to bring in from the garage too, just to keep it from getting busted up.

So we have a full day ahead of us
Have a good one everybody

Well she didn't get here to paint, which is ok.....
I went and picked up the rest of the cupboards from her place,
and I think we'll get those installed before painting and maybe
wait to put down the tiles too. Then we won't be piecing after
the cupboards are in.

But first things first.
I made a deal on a used washer yesterday, and have less than
two weeks to finish up in the laundry room to get ready for
that to go in. Then I'll have to run back to Clark to get the
dryer from Rob. Unless someone happens to be coming here,
and can bring it.
I Pick up the washer the first week of September.
I think I'm feeling 'rushed'  (not really)
LOLOL

I think the washer will be here friday or saturday, and I still don't have the laundry room ready.

Last sunday we borrowed a chain saw to take out stumps etc, and had the stop switch go on, well not Annette, or Rob, or I,  knew what caused the saw to just stop, so Annette called the owner, Shannons Ex, to find out. LOLOL
I guess he decided we were to much of a novice, to be safe, so he showed up and did most of the work for us. He also got some of the limbs off the trees that were going to be a problem. Isn't it wonderful, to be inexperienced?

Life is good.
We still have lots more to do but that took care of the important ones anyway. My thanks to Greg, for his help.
Rob, and Annette did quite a bit of the stumps where the shed used to be. Those along side the cement slab, before Greg got here, so they were learning fast.........
Gloria and I went out and helped pick up stuff. (well Gloria helped a lot more than I did) LOLOL

I see it's been a while since my last update
I have the laundry room done, except for putting the wall at the back of the bedroom closet. I can't do that yet because it's the only way in with appliances till I get the other door widened.

They sold the washer I had on hold, so now I have to look for another one. I was 3 days early to pick it up, and it was already gone. I guess having your name phone and address isn't enough to tape to something, when you want it. You better have the money in your hand. I was really mad too, it was just the thing for in there. It was narrower than the normal washer, so it would have been just right.

Anyway here are a couple of pictures of the room, I wish the camera would zoom out more, but it's not to be.

This first one is looking toward and into the bedroom closet area.
I guess I'm mainly showing off the tiling job

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This next one is of the dryer area, looks a little blurry on here, Hmmmmm
anyway, the linen closet is there too, I didn't get the hookups moved
so I needed to just go with the flow. I can still get in the one side of
it anyway. Maybe next year, I'll get that part finished up.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

First things first. Winter's coming and I have outside things to attend
to.
I had a few shingles blown off the house in the winds this last weekend
so I need to get those fixed, and I need to put boards and insulation
over the basement windows. I also need to weatherstrip doors, and
patch foundation cracks.

that's the update for this time. Next one coming as I finish......
well..... as I get things sorta done for the year anyway LOLOL

Gloria was here and got the kitchen painted for me too.
I was so glad to get that done.

Thanks Gloria

Karen

I got another washer the other day, but still don't have it working ........ I think if it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any at all. While I was getting it installed, we found out the drain on the washer and the drain to the sewer are both the exact same size, and the pipes fit flush with each other. Now I have to put in new drain to the sewer, so the washer pipe will fit inside it. I got all the parts two days ago, but the guy that is to put it in for me, hasn't had time to come and do it for me. I could do it myself if I were about 50 pounds lighter, and could fit into the crawl space. But I'm sure I can't lose that much in a few days so I just wait, while the laundry piles up.

I got the small bedroom tiled yesterday though, and it looks real nice. I used the rest of the tile from the laundry room. Now I just need to get the one window installed in that room and get the wall under that fixed up with new sheetrock, paint, and that room is completely done too. That's the room I put the new back door in.
Oh yeah, I have the wiring to extend yet to hook up the heater in that room after we moved it. I guess i'll have to get to the basement and wire that in. It's a good thing I can still think, or I'd be in a real fix. LOLOL

Pix later

I've been winterizing the house, getting ready for snow.
I put plywood on the outside of the basement windows, and caulked it on, there are only two. That will be staying there because when I get the patio door put in, they will be covered by the deck anyway. Now all I'll need to do is fill the cavities with insulation and cover the inside. Maybe today if time allows.
I went around the foundation and filled cracks with insulation, for this year. Next year, I'll fill them with cement. There weren't many, but as long as I have to do the basement way next year, I'll finish off the foundation too.
I'll be wrapping the water pipes down there today. It shouldn't freeze, but ya never know.

I brought all the one gallon paint cans in, from the garage yesterday, and put them in the basement. I still have several 5 gallon buckets of it out there I have to bring in. That's going to require help though. I'll have Shannons son help with it, the next time he comes over. I have an appliance cart to do the long haul part of it, from the garage to the house, but I'm afraid to take it to the basement on my own. I'm afraid it will take off down the steps, without me. They are heavy. I have one sitting at the top of the stairs as we speak. I'd tackle it, if Annette was able to help, but she fractured her bone in her leg a couple of weeks ago and can't get down there.

Oh and I'm still waiting to get the washer hooked up
I haven't seen hide nor hair of the guy that said he'd do it, if I got the stuff.
well I got the stuff, now where is he?
I've been waiting since two weeks ago.
I've tried finding someone else too, but no luck.
I think I'll have to figure out how to get in the crawl space myself.
I'm rather 'large' though, so if I get stuck......... I'm there for the duration.
Maybe I could get one of you to bring me a meal now and then, and don't forget the pillow and blanket.

More later

Hmmmmmmm.......... Looks like I haven't done an update for a couple of months....
*********
1. We got the washer hooked up, It works good......
2. The Dryer is hooked up, Works good
We bought a different dryer though, it's a newer version and will
be putting that in as soon as we get some muscular help.
This one will be stored in the garage
3. We have all but two windows plasticed, those are in the kitchen and
I'm partial to looking out, so that's why that's taking so long LOLOL
4. We put insulation over the basement windows, even though they are
       boarded up
5. We got a string of Christmas lights up around the front entry door,
That's all we'll be putting up
6. hmmmmmmmmm........ I don't think we got a 6.....

Otherwise we've just been lazing about, till Josh gets here. He's coming the 22nd of December and will go home the 30th.
We're hoping for an early spring to get the patio door put in, We've decided to put that in the living room now.
I'll post a diagram of our plans when i get it made.

That's it, for this time..........
Karen
