In March I went to the city commission board meeting and got the assessed evaluation for the house reduced from 12 thousand dollars to 35 hundred  dollars

so that took care of that part of the evaluation for the 2008 payable taxes,

then I made an appointment with the county commissioners, to try to lower the payable taxes for this year 2007, because the assessed value for last years review was over 30 thousand.
That made the payable taxes for this year just under $800.
I got all the paperwork I could get, gathered up, and today was my appointed meeting.

Well I went to the County Commissioners meeting, they didn't say one way or the other what they would do, so I'll have to wait until I hear in the mail. I thought that's how they would do it. You can't even tell what they are thinking by looking at thier faces. They must practice masking thier feelings by playing poker.

Now I'm drinking the last cup of coffee from the morning pot.

I'm still wiped out. All that thinking is too hard of work for me.

I'll let you know what they say when I get the notification
Karen

Update on the property tax situation.....

They didn't even bring up anything about my property at the first meeting in May.........
So I took my atty to the second meeting on the 22nd, and they told me they would do thier deciding at the meeting to be held June 5th.

Today I got the letter with thier decision..........

they are not doing anything for me......
The taxes will remain at $782.10 payable for the year 2007 (plus interest.)

As you can imagine I am very disappointed.
I am so depressed, I can't even imagine a smile.
I don't know what my attorney will do about it, if anything.

I dont' want to let this go........... but I dont' know how to fight it....
I feel like I'm being singled out for the refusal, because they did reduce another resident's taxes, in town here. That was setting a pressident, (or so I thought)

Since they have refused mine, I feel like i'm being treated unfairly.
How am I going to pay almost 800 dollars in taxes when I only make a little over 400 dollars a month the way it is. Plus make a house payment and pay utilities, buy groceries..... and a tank of gas once a month.
I'm so depressed

As of right now, there have been no changes
I didn't take if farther, because the costs would have come to more than the taxes, and if I lost, it would be in addition. So I dropped the suit.
