Champion.

Just mentioning that word and what it means and then thinking of the wrestling industry, it doesn’t take long before Seifer’s name pops up on the list of the greatest wrestling champions of all time. Someone who knows all about what it takes to climb the ladder to the top, and most importantly, knows how to stay there.

Where then does Seifer fit into this? Someone who has only twice stepped foot into an IRX arena and even then it was only for a few minutes. He has his sources; he knows what goes on in the wrestling industry. So upon hearing this little promo by Mr. Decaine, Seifer’s wheels started turning as he remembered someone boasting about something not too long ago. Knowing Seifer, he won’t allow himself to be censored for he cares not if he gives out free publicity, he’s going to get out what he has to. And being a savvy veteran, one should listen.

The scene opens outside on a wooden balcony. The camera captures Seifer leaning up against it.

“No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. Seifer has indeed graced IRX broadcasting across the country. Don’t get your hopes up though; I’m not here to make any kind of debut. I simply came to address a situation I happened to notice. Those who know me know I have connections around this business, know that I know what goes on, and know that I do what I want, when I want, how I want. That’s what brings me here today. Earlier I witnessed a promo by IRX owner Tim Decaine, commenting on his champions. Now, I happen to agree somewhat with how Tim put across his message. Though I do believe he was a little off on two aspects. You have a smaller, yet talented roster. To threaten termination of your champions might be a little too much, for if they keep slacking they’ll shrug their shoulders once they get terminated and go on about their day. It would sting much more if they find they still have a job, are still expected to work, but have been stripped of their championships. That would eat at them and hopefully re-ignite their drive to get back to where they once were. If not, then let them go. But you gotta give a little benefit of the doubt to them. Note though, that I said a little.?/FONT>

“Moving on to who you mentioned. Sasha is the only one out of the bunch I can understand. Up until a couple of days ago she was the only female on the roster and in relation to the Vixen title, that won’t work very well so promoting overseas is a good idea. When she gets back though, I’d expect her to show why she’s the most talented female innovator, even if she is mixing it up with the boys. As far as your boys are concerned, I get giving the Adams and Rot's who have been putting good effort each week a rest from your rant. But you should still drill them if you want them to really pick up the company. One man, your IRX Champion, cannot do it alone. When you reach a week where it’s do or die time, you have to tell every motherfucker, especially all your champions that it’s time to show why you’re in the wrestling industry. So I wouldn’t have given anyone a pass, maybe not have drilled say a Adams as hard as a Sparrow due to the belts they hold, but they’d all of been told that the IRX needs you to really step it up and be a leader, show you’ve got what it takes to help carry the company. Now mind you, that wasn’t a shot at any of the champions, I’m only giving a little piece of advice.?/FONT>

“Though this part may be taken more as a shot. Really, it’s just something I wish to put out in order to light a fire under his ass. Now most of what you said about the IRX World Champion Sparrow could be right on the head. A top champion in a federation should be the ultimate leader; the one who busts his ass whether or not he has a big profile match, that really gets people into things and proves he’s the best. Now Sparrow is a great talent and big name in this industry, he’s a great champion too, but right now he isn’t showing those qualities. Obviously I have no reason to be biased when it comes to IRX as it’s not the only company I have a few friends in. But as mentioned I do keep up with what’s going on around the circuit, I know what the top companies are, despite what some might say about one or another. IRX happens to be one of them. Yet I saw a segment the other day from Dante of BUD. The Heavyweight Champ over there, he went on and boasted about how he was the greatest champ on the circuit today. Comparing himself to the heavyweight champions of federations such as PWT, OCW, and W2K. You know which he didn’t mention? IRX. Now, this little part is directed towards you Sparrow.?/FONT>

Seifer cracks his head to the side.

“Tell me you aren’t just going to stand by and let him get away with that? We all know the history you two have been through?or lack thereof, no fault of your own. Wasn’t your fault shit just ‘kept coming up? was it? No. But you know what? Despite that, had he mentioned IRX, at the moment I’d be inclined to agree with him. The infamous Sparrow most have come to know and love may have proven that statement dead fucking wrong. But this Sparrow? Shocked as I’ll be to say it but MJ Storm is probably doing better than you are because he’s putting in effort. So maybe you like playing second fiddle to Dante on the MSN circuit. Maybe you like the company you’re repped as Champion in to not even be recognized by another Champion as a legit competitor when by all rights it should be. Honestly Sparrow, you’re kind of disappointing me, not that you care anyways. Get your ass back into gear and actually show why you’re champion.?/FONT>

Seifer shakes his head.

“Then again it’s also not all on Sparrow. You didn’t book him this week Decaine, that’s your own fault. He’s the champ, but you’re the owner. You tell him when and where to wrestle, so do it. If he’s not putting in any effort, then you don’t terminate him, that should only be used for failure to show up to multiple shows or excessive disrespect backstage, you strip him. Even if it IS the IRX World Championship. I’ve seen companies doing it before. You want to build the IRX Championship as a legit title that only the BEST should be able to hold? You need to make sure those dedicated are the ones who contend, and that those who are champion put forth effort. I’m not saying you can’t have a pathetic champ, everyone gets lucky from time to time. But if you’ve got one putting no effort, showing no interest now that they got the big belt, then it’s time to end the disrespect. Besides, this way you can weed out the slackers before they even get a chance at taking a stab at the IRX. But hey, I’m just a guy who has run a successful company before, been apart of managements in federations of old and has been a successful World Champion in various organizations, what do I know??/FONT>

Seifer shrugs.

“So that’s pretty much all I wanted to say, nothing too special other than give everyone in IRX an outsiders point of view. IRX is a great looking company that has a lot of killer ideas and potential. People know it’s out there, it’s up to the roster to bring it to the top, and it’s up to the champions to lead them. To be honest, I like the product IRX has right now, like all companies it has its negatives, but it’s perked my interest. Does that mean I’ll be making my way there? Hey, ya just never know, crazier things have happened in pro wrestling. But for the hell of it, let’s say I did. Well, there wouldn’t be any issues with the slacking champions is all I’m going to say. Take it how you want.?/FONT>

He winks.

“Until then, keep the Seifmadness pumping, you know you love it.?/FONT>

The scene fades out.

While it wasn’t exactly intended to be a debate, Seifer has no qualms debating wrestling topics with a fellow genius.

Re-open.

“Decaine, for the sake of having an intelligent debate with you, I’ll argue on the opposite side of some of your points. I say it like I’m putting myself out there and in a way I am. Some of what I will say doesn’t reflect how I treat the business and go about it. Yet it does reflect how others have that I’ve worked with over the years. When I say give people the benefit of the doubt, I’m not meaning give them big chance after big chance. No. Just in the terms of terminating their contract. Unfortunately, and I’m not being big on myself here, just stating the facts. Unfortunately not everyone has as good a work ethic like I do; never missing a show, never forgetting to cut at least one promo for a match even if stressed on time for whatever reasons. But there have been quite a few people I’ve come across who do forget to cut promos or claim to not have time to; there are those who even miss shows. To each their own, I guess, but it doesn’t always mean they have completely lost interest in the company. To owners it does seem like a slap in the face, but not everyone has good time management and thus, you get this kind of reaction.?/FONT>

“You made a valid point, having invested a lot of money into Sparrow, mainly in part due to his name and fan base. So perhaps he didn’t have to work as hard and has taken it for granted, whatever the case, what’s done is done. So while you recover and don’t want to get burned again, are you willing to let all the effort you put into him die out that easily? All I’m saying is it’s not always good to give up and cut your losses right away. I know it’s been a couple weeks and I’m not saying change your stance, I’m saying keep him apart of the roster and when he shows up for work, he gets paid, perhaps you will eventually get out what you put into him. But back to your stance, if he doesn’t show up anytime soon then go ahead and strip him of the title. It’s a harsh business but if you’re not putting forth the time and effort, you don’t deserve to be champ. As far as having a go at your other champions, I was thinking more of a motivational 'spark a fire under your ass' talk to them so they are totally ready to carry the load and not have IRX in a situation like it’s in this week.?/FONT>

Seifer grins now, he was trying to be humble, really. But Decaine was just saying the right things.

“As far as one man not being able to do it on their own, well, there are always exceptions to the rule. I’m the exception in this case.?/FONT>

He laughs, “Staying with topic here though, it comes down to work ethic. It comes down to what you’re out to prove. I didn’t know Sparrow’s work ethic prior to seeing him in that company but I knew mine and not being arrogant but it’s one of the best around. Though I do see where you were coming from and why you had high expectations being that the company is right up there as one of the top, perhaps not in product or competition, but consistency will do that for you. And it's true, the Champion should be the ones who pave the way for others.?/FONT>

“As far as the rest goes, it is what it is. So long as the company is in good hands behind the scenes so that everything runs smoothly, and IRX seems to be, then it’s up to the talent to make things work in front of the cameras. But if you have a few bad weeks, horrible even, you still have to keep moving and those who can keep up, will while the slackers fall behind. Usually you can get out of the slump if you stay positive and still have dedicated workers. I’ve seen it happen. Alright enough philosophical ramblings from me. Continue this if you feel the need but I do have one other thing I would like to discuss with you Mr. Decaine that may perk your interest…?/FONT>

He pauses as if he was forming what he was going to say.

He keeps the pause a few seconds.

A few more seconds and then smiles.

“Oh I’m sorry, I meant in person. Suckas!?/FONT>

Seifer laughs, knowing people were dying to hear it.

“I’ll have my people contact your people and we’ll do lunch.?/FONT>

Fade.
