As you know I picked for my shadow totem, the spider.  Well hubby had a deathly fear of the little beasties for the longest time, but he surprised me this am.  We have Orb spider all over the place this time of year, and they make their webs in some of the damnedest of places.  This morning when hubby was getting ready to go work he asked me to come out with him.  Following he walked around the other side of the car and said; "There's a spider over here thats used my car for her web, can you move her please?"  I told him all he had to do was break one of the anchors and she would move on her own.  He bravely picked up a branch, broke two of the anchor silks and watched as she climbed back up onto the tree branch.
I'll so proud of him.  He's had this fear since nothing but a boy when he and his brother had to sleep in what sounds like a haunted shed.  He could never find the spider that kept making the hugh shadow on the wall.  I'm proud that he was able to do that this morning.

Really enoyed your message about the "Orb Spider". One of these showed up in a corner (outside) our bedroom window about six weeks ago. This was very interesting as I had drawn 'Spider" in a card spread the week before.

Grandmother Spider is on my frame drum, so I am particular fond of any information about these facinating insects.=, aside from what I have already found out about them from Ted Andrewes "Animal Speak" and other friends.

As he/she(?) had spun the web in absolutely the most unlikely spot to catch anything, I have been throwing semi conscious flys, bugs, etc. about once every three days into the web. Everyone who visits is in awe of how Spider quickly stuns, than wraps up the prey to haul up into a corner.

Spider has grown considerably over the past weeks and now appears to be in hibernation - has taken down the web and is just sitting there. As we are in North Eastern Ontario it will be getting quite cold very soon. Anyone who can clue me in to what they usually do in the winter would be appreciated.

So great to hear how your hubby has responded ...so many people have horror stories about spiders and for many, it is very scary even to have one anywhere near them.

Thank you for sharing your story... that is so wonderful that your husband came to you with this... and that he did so well doing this all on his own.  I had to learn that way too ..since I used to be afraid of them... Now... I am the one who protects them from others who dislike spiders. LOL

Blessings,
Missy (Soberlynx)

I am deathly afraid of spiders...I can empathize...Though it seems like the spider (black widow) is one of my totems.  I love her though.  I just don't want to be near her

Am always happy to hear when peeps realize that nature is a part of us....The spider has many lessons that we can learn....Sounds like hubby is taking the right approach!!
Walk in Peace my sister....
