Well another cold morning, I've never known whether like this so early in December.  Brian was right about it being wet and windy but the wet was slush and sleet!  It is slowly thawing though and should soon be gone.

Yesterday there was a picture of some Dalmation puppies on what we called a bogie when we were children.  MY dear step-dad was manager of a sawmill and was a craftsman with wood and he made one for my step-brother and me.  It brought back memories of a nine year old girl walking two miles to the station with her 'new' dad (it was Sunday morning and no buses ran) in 1942 and strapped to the case her dad carried was a large wooden spade he had carved.  I was going back to Fleetwood after a week's visit to meet dad and had experienced my first air-raids but the thing I remember most was my lovely new spade and how I enjoyed playing with it on the beach.  It was bigger than anyone else's and I could boast that my dad made me it.

Quick joke: Q:   Apart from a card game, what is seven-up?
A:   A very busy night for Snow White.

Well have a good day, I hope you are doing better with your Christmas Shopping than I am.

love, Joan

Joan your momories of war reminded me of when my father got back from the war and he made me some dolls furniture not for going into a house and also a push chair for them ,he had painted it white with pink wheels I thought I was the bees knees.
Been up and down all night to toilet so hope it has past as well

Morning Joan & Carole,
Your war time story brought back memories for me too. My Dad was a templatemaker and made me a push chair for my Dolls and I was the envy of the street. Dad made us lots of toys as you just could not buy them in those days.
Well I'm of to the Garden Centre this morning with Helen to see what I can get to decorate the house. The sky looks cold and grey so not sure what we will get . I'll just wear my waterproofs just in case.
Carole hope you get to your tap dance and that you are no longer running to the Loo.
Have a good day and take care,
Love Beth xx

Afternoon all

I'm a bit late today and it's been one thing after another this morning starting with the burglar alarm man at 9:00 (when they say a morning call you never expect them THAT  early do you?)

I was a baby boomer of February 1947 when the snow, even in London, was 4ft deep.  My father was a Master Cabinetmaker and he could do anything with wood.  The wardrobes and dressing table I had in my bedroom up until I was about 14 were the pieces he made to complete his apprenticeship in the early 30's and like you Joan, my brothers always had the best 'bogie' in the road.  He never did build me a doll's house though which I would have loved.

We have just sold some dolls house furniture on e-bay.  It was a lot of stuff that DH 'saved' from the tip one day many years ago with a dolls house.  My DD was never verymuch interested in it so we gave away the house but kept all the bits and pieces which fetched £73 last week!  There were a few nice pieces but I would have said most of it was 50's stuff.

We've had a lovely bright start to the day until about 2 hours ago and now it's throwing it down with rain.  I was hoping to go to the library but I think I'll leave it for today.

Well the new 'Discover' programme was unveiled at WW yesterday.  It's not that different, still counting points, but they have more or less abandoned the Core Plan.  I thought it just confused everybody having 2 plans anyway.

Can't stay on any longer as DH is e-baying and needs the PC back.

Hope you all have a good day and that you got to your Xmas lunch Carole.  My first one is next Thursday with girls from WW'ers, then another one the following Sunday with 'rent-a-crowd'.  I'm trying to be so good at the moment so that I can have a few treats then.

Linda
