High-priced and high-fat
Some of us stick to buying favourite foods because they're quick and convenient, but this is often and expensive and unhealthy way to shop.  Convenience foods like ready-meals have a high fat, high salt and high chemical contgent, all of which lead to weight gain, toxicity, bloating, bad skin and generally feeling pretty yucky.  Don't be fooled by some supermarket 'quality' brands, they aren't just more expensive, they can also be high in calories.

Budget Basics
Start by changing all your basics to healthier optiuons like brown bread, pasta and rice.  These are now very affordable.  By eating more of these wholegrain foods you'll naturally be eating less starchy carbs, which are notorious for weight gain.  Look for organic dairy products or consider a milk alternative like soya milk, which helps lower cholesterol.  Yes, organic meat is expensive but you can start to swap red meat for cheaper free-range chicken, which helps lower your overall calorie intake and cash outlay.
