Ok gusy, need some help here.  I have a customer who I am having a problem keeping a VR color in her hair.  I use Matrix socolor 3VR & 3N with 10 vol. all over the head.  It turns out beautiful but doesn't hold for more than a week.  She is using Biologe color care shampoo and conditioner and her hair is in decent condition.  Any suggestions on how to keep the VR in her hair?

what was her base before?  Did she have color already there, and what is her natural...

Maybe increase to 20V to try and break the cuticle better?

Her natural color is between a level 3-4.  The first time I colored her hair using this formula I did use 20 vol on her. Since it didn't hold I dropped it down to 10 vol.  I have colored her prior to this and never had a problem.  I have made her a level 3 before and it held well.  Just not sure why its washing out now.

Im not familiar with socolor,is it permanent color? I would eliminate the N completely. especially on mid-ends. And use a higher volume on there as well. What is her natural base? if its 4 or below, your not using a high enough volume. once you get her to the desired color, use a demi on her mid-ends. hope this helps!

ok, i read this after i sent mine. try a demi....under heat. you may also want to add some finely woven RV highlights to give it some interest.

Thank you all for your input.  Yes, socolor is permanent, but you can also make it semi too.  I was going to use color sync on her shaft and ends, but I figured if it was washing out with permanent color it would surely wash out faster with that.  I have never heard of the Reflect Collection and I will be trying that next.  Years ago I use to use Torrids.  They were great.  Do you know if they are still around?  I'll let you know when I color again.  Since I just did her a week ago it will be another 5 weeks before I see her again.

Yes, Torrids is still around. Color Sync isn't a semi, it's demi, which lasts about 6 weeks. And because it's deposit only, it actually adheres to the hair shaft better than ammonia hair color.
