Yes! I had a very hard time in school because of that. It was a small school with one teacher, and not only didn't she help, but she would also talk about everyone behind their backs, putting us down. I needed alot of help, and was picked on all the time. Teachers are suppossed to be supportive, otherwise they shouldn't be in the business. I got through it, and besides that, most of the real help I got was working in salons. Yeah it did suck, but to me, beauty school was just a small part of my career that I needed to get my license.

Oh Yes indeed!!! Sometimes i wonder if they even want us to learn anything. I almost quit school because of a bad teacher.

Yep, this includes me too.........I had two teachers quit after fighting every day.....and another one who didn't really know anything, and didn't care what we did.  If the manequin looked bad - she thought ok- it's done.

Luckily I did have a one who use to be a state board instructor, everyone hated her, but I was thankful.  If you did a perm, that was 85% right, she still took it down, and made you do it again.  It was hard to realize then, but in the end we learned more because of her and got better at things.

Now I just work for a boss, who is so negative, and puts us all down, makes an idiot of himself non-stop - just two days ago, he came in with a bad hangover, so he didn't feel like working, cancelled his book and went to the mall all day

The only thing worse than a bad teacher is a bad employer. Been there done that TWICE!!!! Got fired 2 years ago and it was the best thing for me. I love being on my own and my clients love it because they dont have to endure any drama.

we always said that to get through beauty school all you had to do was show up!!
We didnt learn anything but the state board set!!

I think in the 16 months I was there we had maybe 6 different instructors..take what you can out of it...you will learn soo much more after you are out and start to work...find someone to work for who knows what they are doing, has a good clientel, and is willing to let you watch, and help you with questions!!!!  Get all of the outside help you can get.  Watch videos, watch other stylists work, read all you can...b/c you probably are not going to learn it in school...but you have to stick it out to get the license!!!
