Make a Gardening Apron
Busy gardeners need to keep their hands free. But they also need to keep their seed packets, trowel, twine, labels and markers handy. Why not make a gardening apron to hold all of your tools?
For this project you’ll need a nail apron. Most hardware stores give these away to their customers. Because most aprons have printed advertisements on them, you’ll decorate the back of yours and wear it backwards too. This will keep your tools and seeds close to you so they’ll be less likely to fall out.
Cover your work surface with newspapers and place the apron on them, pocket-side down.
Sketch your design in pencil first. You can draw flowers, fairies, vegetables, worms, butterflies, birds, or bugs…whatever makes you think of gardening.
Wear a smock to protect your clothing. Color in your design using permanent-ink markers or acrylic paints. Be sure to use markers or paints that are permanent and washable so that you can wash your apron when it gets dirty.
