lol. Very cool.  Do you remember what your first thought was about it? your first feeling?  I always find that when someone has an odd experience they themselves know immediatly the nature of the experience but as time goes on they discount their feeling or justify the experience.

What was your firs thought on it? no matter how crazy... what was it?

When I was about 11-12 a couple of friends were staying the night and we were telling ghost stories.  My buddy said "Do you think ghosts really exist" and on cue the lamp 10 feet away from any of us turned on, thouroughly spooking the crap out of us.

Then again, just 3 days ago, this automatic light at my moms house that has been out for 6 months, since my dad hit it in the winter, flicked on and has come on each night since.  I'll never understand electricity, I think I have a better chance at figuring out ghosts, my only shot at discerning between the two lol.

in highschool some friends and i decided to light candles and play with the ouiji board.... lol... anyhow, we got spooked at the story it told (or one of my friends told lol) and threw the little gadget thingy off the board without disconnecting.  the house we were at had a storage room in the basement with a heavy door. we all stared at each other freaked out at breaking the connection when the door slowly creaked open, and promptly slammed itself shut. no pets, no open windows.  that happened for months after freaking everybody out until we decided  to meet again and contact the spirit and close the channel.  while we were at it the second time the door kept opening and slamming (sorry folks no siblings to play the trick either) until we closed the channel. never did it again that we ever heard.  (and i will not tell you what the spirit we were supposedly talking to said, it was disturbing to no ends and no one needs to hear it) sometimes i really really really wonder, even at the small things.....

there again, my best friend had this answering machine that dialed nine one one, doctor's clinics, info lines, and even me.  i'd answer my phone and hear "beep- you have reached blah blah beep'.  never could figure it out but it was a laugh.

Ya know I have heard so many stories about the ouiji board exactly like solaces, from my sister to my friends to complete strangers.  I have no doubt the power of the ouiji board is real, but does anyone know what gives it that power or what the secret or story behind it is.  I've always been amazed at the amount of people who have had some "crazy" experiences with the ouiji board, and even people who believe in the power of the ouiji board or are at least to scared to mess with it even though they don't believe in the "supernatural", yet it can be found at K-mart right under chutes and ladders and monopoly.

Oooo, the only thing I know about Oujii boards is that my mom threw ours away when we were kids. I think she was freaked out with the possibilities and powers of the board. lol, I'm not even quite sure if any of us tried it before it was tossed. As to ghosts and other supernatural beings, they scarrrrreeee the devil outta me. This is why I don't watch any scary movies, or listen to scary stories..I wouldn't sleep for a week. yikes
Have you ever been scared so bad that you couldn't sleep after seeing or hearing something? This is for anyone to answer.

I have talked to a few people who study strange goings on such as these.  Objects mysteriously moving, flying, slamming, etc.  Often it turns out that someone in the household has the power and needs to recognize this and learn to control it.  Other times they find a spirit in residence and attempt to heal and guide the spirit to the light.

Ouija boards are not considered that safe by "New Agers" in general.  The real flaw is selling it as a children's toy.  Anyone can tap into it very easily.  A few of us speculate that is the problem--  so many people tapping into the same thing without any training, grounding, holding dark ideas...  It is viewed as the Las Vegas of the spirit world with a line up of spirits who are Elvis impersonators just waiting to get out.

There is a special approach to using the Ouija that I have READ is safe.  I do not use the Ouija board personally.  To use a Ouija board, a protection ritual is necessary,  and be sure to end with a banishing ritual in case the spirit decides to hang around and sing Bob Dylan or throw something.  The banishing ritual is what is left off most often.  If anyone believes that Ouija is safe when used properly, I am very interested in hearing about this.

If you decide that the Ouija board must go, special precautions should also be made. There is a ritual for burying the Ouija board, that involves taking it apart and burying it in salt set into the ground.  It is not considered good form to just throw it away with the pointer ending up pointing somewhere...

If you are freaking out, you could consider having your board adopted?

What is the proper way to dispose of my Ouija board? Should I break it into seven pieces, say the Lord's Prayer, sprinkle it with Holy Water, then burn it? What?

You may donate it to the Museum of Talking Boards. We will send you our special Museum of Talking Boards Karma Korrector. Under no circumstances should you burn your Ouija. People can be injured when proper fire precautions are ignored.

  • Hello, is this Elvis?  We say "Yes," or they will shelve us.

  • Did you misplace the will? We'll find it, Madam Olga will!

  • Have a question about dear ol' Stevie? Ask us your faithful ouija.

  • Are we in the 7th Hell? Maybe it's just as well?

    Bahahahah.

I have a small collection of divination tools.  Most of the collection consists of tarot decks, but I have some others too.  Much of the collection is put away now, so I cannot recall exactly what I have.  I do have some wizard guy in a ball that makes lightening in the center of a board type game.  If I recall correctly, you get to a square, pick a question, and he predicts the answer to your question.  I have a Crazy 8 ball and even Chi Chi sticks.  One of the sticks is missing though.  ;)

I don't actually use a board, but I like Ouija boards.  I think I must have one of the traditional ones put away.  Some of they are quite beautiful.  Occasionally I look at some of the designs going by on Ebay. Look at this scary full size layout photo. http://www.astrosenlinea.com/ouija.jpg  Isn't that a kewl photo?

I recall Kellog writing about a reader using a Ouija.  She used the proper opening and closing techniques. To me it is a strange case to sell divination tools as games though.  That seems flawed but I must admit to using my Crazy 8 Ball very casually.  Sometimes I find it handy to view the answer first and then ask the question as it suits me. One of the major problems with Ouija is that people treat it like a game.  Sure it is by Parker Brothers, but if you are sensitive or open, you may actually open something.  Then if you are going with the game, you don't close something after you are done.  I have heard first hand accounts of the difficulties with the boards and spoke with the people who go in to resolve the difficulties.

Another problem with treating the Ouija like a game is that people have often lowered their vibrations with drugs or alcohol laying themselves wide open to trouble.  So they are in the like attracts like situation and contacting the spirits that have lower vibrations.  Alcohol, a depressant, lowers vibrations for instance.  For an interesting write up on Ouija, see Stoker Hunt's book "Ouija, The Most Dangerous Game."  He gives plenty of warning on what happens, why, who should not use the board (those with emotional or physical disorders, Fundamentalist Christians... etc.), and how to use it if you must.

This is so very easy to use, no matter how it works, that anyone can tap into it very easily.  A few of us speculate that is the problem--  so many people tapping into the same thing without any training or grounding, and those holding dark ideas...  It is still viewed as the Las Vegas of the spirit world with a line up of spirits who are Elvis impersonators just waiting to get out by me.  If you study spiritual symbols or designs like mandalas, one comes across the idea of a sea of energy.  Some of the energy is in the intent of the symbol.  That is why and how some ritual designs work out if you are attempting to follow a particular system.  The accomplishments and flaws of the ones preceding you are important to consider.  With Ouija, that is a lot!

There is a special approach to using the Ouija that I have READ is safe.  I do not use the Ouija board personally.  To use a Ouija board, a protection ritual is necessary,  and be sure to end with a banishing ritual in case the spirit decides to hang around and sing Marylin Manson or throw something.  The banishing ritual is what is left off most often.  Somehow the banishing ritual seems a bit too strong now.  The usual goodbyes and closings seem fine to me unless the experience was unpleasant.  Maybe it is not too strong...

Just as a reminder again...   If you decide that the Ouija board must go, special precautions are made. There is a ritual for burying the Ouija board, that involves taking it apart and burying it in salt set into the ground.  It is not considered good form to just throw it away with the pointer ending up pointing somewhere...  However, there is a much easier way.
