Thoughts are karma.

 

There are many ways to access thought.  It does need to be simple in order to work like image streaming for instance.  You are right: Forcing does not work.   Controlling is not an answer.  Creating is an answer. That is why hypnosis can produce results in shorter periods of time and in fewer sessions, than psychoanalysis.  It accesses the other parts of the mind besides the conscious mind.  (I cannot find the statistics online but I have been taught them.  Hypnosis is a lot quicker.) 

 

Meditation is wonderful for letting go of thought.  There are processes in meditation for manifestation as well.  However, if you continue to hold onto the negative mantra, you are defeating the purpose.  That is why you start with the root chakra in meditation.  My teaching suggests this chakra is for elimination.  This is not just your regular bathroom exercises    it is letting go.  This is what allows more movement up through the other energy centers. So the process that many people fail to go through, may be included in a meditation program.

Elimination includes letting go of negative thoughts, holding onto conditions of the past, forgiving.  It should be easy, since according to people who teach this, the world is made to take this from you.   It wants to take this from you in energy.  However, you will see people spending a great deal of energy holding on anyway.  Change is difficult and especially so when a person is constipated.

 

It is not hard to discover negative mantras at all.  Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle.  Pick your favorite affirmation.  Write it 100 times on the left hand side of the paper.  Every time a stray thought comes into the mind, write the throught on the right hand side of the paper.  Often, people are surprised at the results when they pay attention to stray thoughts.  In some of the practices here you can take that stray thought and decide you are ready to cut the rope, or unbind yourself from it!  This can be done in a simple ritual and you will read these rituals done in one form or another over and over again.  For instance, burning that side of the paper, etc.

 

This can be a valuable exercise even for someone who is meditating if they find that some paths are blocked.  There can be some patchy movement up through the energy centers as well.  I am also told that people face difficulties as part of their growth process for their higher calling.
