A parent was asking about their child, who has to close doors.
It is important not only to open doors in magic but to be conscious of closing them. Closing doors can actually be a good habit. If you feel your child definitely has magical influences, or is very sensitive, doors can be very special. I can tell you that I could not sleep at night as a little person until my closet doors were shut. I required that cozy nest feeling in order to sleep. An open door of any kind represented a certain energy influence of available entry. I never did the under the bed problem. That was a hang out.
I would have dreams about my closet. For some reason that door was the entry way in my dreams to a place where one second equaled about a whole day here. I could get a lot done that way. Dreams are really that way though. Did you ever fall asleep for a minute or two and have a whole adventure dream that seems like days? When I learned how to channel, my very first traveler came out of that same closet. 
Doorways do have a certain energy. Stand in one and see. In spellwork, you can represent situations by traveling through a door in the process of the spell. I am still sensitive to doors and exits from one place to another, although I no longer am so formal about the door.
