Hi All, Knowing me I am probably putting this post in the wrong place if so Jean, my most sincere apologies. Whilst I was trying to sort out and tidy up some of the old family albums we have, I came across a poem that Emily used to read on the stage in  the club we had in Manchester, 1974, so long ago and I thought that some of our members may be interested to hear it, I only wish that you could have heard Emily in her very special way say it, anyway here goes;
The Auctioneer.
The auctioneer, thought it scarcely worth his while
To waste much time on this old violin, but he held it up with a smile.
What am I bid good friends he cried,
Who will start bidding for me.

A dollar, a dollar, only a dollor
One dollar, who'll make it two.
Two dollars once, two dollars twice, two dollars
Who'll make it three, three dollars once, three dollars twice,
It's going, it's going cried he.

But No, from the room far back
A grey haired old man, came forward and picked up the bow,
Wiping the dust from that old violin, tightening up a loose string.
He played a melody, pure and sweet,
As sweet as an angel sings.

Now the auctioneer,
With a voice that was quiet and low,
Picked up the old violin,
But this time he held it up with the bow.

One thousand dollars once, one thousand dollars twice,
Two thousand dollars, who'll make it three.
Three thousand once, three thousand twice
It's going, it's gone cried he.

Now the people cheered, some of them cried,
But none of them could quiet understand
What had changed the worth of that old vioilin,
Why, t'was the touch of a masters hand.

Now there's many a man with life out of tune,
Battered and scared by sin, Yes, you're auctioned  cheap, to a foolish crowd.
Much like that old violin, a mess of potash, a glass of wine
A game and you'll travel on.

Now you're going once and your going twice.
You're going and you've almost gone,
But the master comes and the foolish crowd,
Never can quiet understand, the worth of one soul
And the change that is brought, by the touch of Our Master's Hand.

Unknown Origin.
Please let me know what you think, because I have found some more.
Love and Light Ray
