I was looking through some of the readathons, and was in awe of them.
I really don't know how to do a reading like those  I know it's going to take time for me to become as good but I'm very much like wanting everything yesterday if you know what I mean

I don't suppose anyone could give me some tips on how to start out? I usually only see spirit when I'm giving Reiki, although have seen spirit on the odd occasion too like the little girl in my friends house, but very rarely.

Sorry it's so long winded lol

Sara xx

Hi Sara,

believe me you are not alone when you say you are very much wanting everything yesterday, we all at one time or another have felt like that and may continue to feel frustrated as everything appears to be on a go slow, lol. But you know something you have the potential inside of you to do a fabulous reading. It's not always those people who have been giving readings longer that relay the better messages. Complete beginners have often been amazed at their ability when they have plucked up the courage to at least try. That in itself is a brave move, one I think we should all be proud of taking.

The readathon is where you can use any tool you like, such as cards, runes, oracles, scribbles or even screwed up pieces of paper to get information from, the list is really endless Sara. Each reader here will work differently, there is no right or wrong way of working. The end result is what we are all aiming to do, and that's evidence of spirit being around us. If we can prove that they are by the messages we relay, we are more than happy to do so.
You could also try meditating beforehand, relaxing your mind and thoughts, trying to attune yourself to spirit or learn to use your intuition to psychically tune into the person who you will be reading for. When you feel ready you write down or type whatever thoughts, feelings, smells that come into your mind or atmosphere. It may sound like a load of rubbish and not make any sense to you but have faith and trust yourself. By the way most readings are given when the reader can't understand it, reason being it's not for them to understand. Eventually you will learn to recognise or distinguish what information is psychic and what is spirit.
When you receive feedback if you have been given some no's to the info, try and not let it get to you. We all can get no's in readings. In my opinion this helps keep our feet firmly on the ground for we want to always improve our method of working.

Above all Sara, don't worry about it, have fun with it. Fun makes learning so much more pleasurable, I think so anyhow. I hope this helps you in some way.
Good luck.

love Trin xxx

Hi Sara,

Don't put yourself down hunny.  You are just as good as any of us.  We all want more and want it yesterday, it's natural lol.  Why not join us for the next readathon and find out just how good you really are.  Every time I do a reading I always think that I'm going to get nothing.   This month's was the worst ever for me.  I really didn't think I would get anything.  It's a good exercise, fun and there's no pressure.  I bet you'll be amazed at yourself.   The first readathon I took part in I'd never done a reading in my life and just put down everything that came into my head.  I got the shock of my life when most of that reading was taken.

Take care,
Love D xxxxxx

Funnily enough Sara I was reading a little book today called Gentle Brother (White Eagle) and read that

"one of the most difficult lessons to learn is patience.  Impatience holds back many a soul who is on the spiritual path. And in the inner mystery schools of the past, the candidate was always taught the inadvisability of rushing forward to quickly, because by being too eager he might be blinded.  Therefore man must work patiently with his chisel and gavel upon the rough ashlar of his being, which he can only hope to perfect with long and patient work.  Learn patience, and you will enter into that peace which brings power."

Before I joined SMD I was just like you and, no doubt, many others, but I have learned to be patient and darling it does pay off.  One step at a time ........ and in time you will end up running!

Love and Light

Hi Sara,
Don't ever think you can't do a reading.    I'm sure you will find you have just as much ability as the rest of us once you get going.  When I first joined two and a half years ago, I had never done a reading and wasnt even sure I had any abilities.  But with the love and encouragement of the members, they helped me find my way.   Then I participated in readathon and was kind of scared but you know what??  I did OK.  I think my first reading was for Maia and she was able to take some things in the reading.  I was so amazed and it gave me such confidence.  Since then, I have given readings that people were really greatful for and that made me feel wonderful that I was able to help.  I'm kind of at a stand still right now with my development but I'm working on that.  Anyway, my advice to you is to just jump right in with things and take part in the next readathon and you'll be surprised at how much you really can do.
If you have any other questions or problems, just hollar and I'm sure someone will help you.
Hugs,
Wheezie
