I understand where you are coming from but really this is what the Q&A board is for.   There is information on most subjects here anyway and I'm still in the process of adding things.

 

As for grounding and protecting, well you should always be protected.   Keep the white light or whatever it is you use around you all the time.

I am a newbie like you and also understand some of your fears. I have always been drawn to healing and all things spiritual. I was raised as a Roman Catholic by second generation Irish parents. It is grilled into us from a young age that anything that is deemed as being "occultish" is from the devil as it were, and there is this fear of demonic possession. That kind of indoctirnation from a very young age is hard to overcome. I suppressed my gifts for a long time because of this, and the fear of letting go and being open whereby becoming vulnerable is hard. For me it has taken a long time to get to where I am today. My family now just regard me as interesting and eccentric. They all come to me with their aches and pains though, ha ha. But seriously, I think that all you can do is believe in the fact that what you are doing is coming out of love, and ask for protection and ground yourself. Very often scary visions and sensations, are just our own fears manifesting themselves.

 

Ask for help from your spirit guides even if you haven't made contact yet. This is what I do, I haven't made contact yet, but I have faith that they are there anyway and watching over me.  Hope this helps.

Hi Guy and Amethyst - thanks for the replies - wow this was a while back...

What am I afraid of?  many things ...but mostly I guess the unknown and the diffenrent feelings I get.  Its like im meditating and then I fall back to consciousness. I belive that i am afraid somehow.

Chrissy has told me to tell myself daily that "I am not afraid of spirit or of communicating with spirt" and that it might help.  I do ground and protect and even say positive afermations in order to keep my mind clear and positive ...

I think that because I am  new at this,  I have to trust in my ablities to ground and protect and in my guides.

   ive just read your post, i remember the fears stage oh so well!!!!!!!!,lol,

i laugh now only because im no longer afraid,but  i rem doing the grounding protecting ect then my heart would feel like it was going to pop out with fear!!!,

but i approached a medium i knew and told her of this and she told me that.......

spirit will NOT  come through while you still have fear,as the last thing they want to do is frighten you!!!!,so she said to me ,while meditating do an affirmation (such as......i   have no  fear seeing the future or the past.  ........she said if you say this enough during your meditation each day you will soon over come the fear of any thing spiritual...........

so i did this every day for about a month and ive got to say it worked wonders!!!!! it mabe a mind over matter thing,lol, i dont know,but it worked for me.,

mabe you could try it?.

any way i wish you luck on your way forward.
