The struck match flares,
the black wick hesitates,
then lives again
as silent, golden truth.

Your flaming essence travels
this love gift to the world,
starting now from Wales, Bangor,
there a child of multinational flames
blazing in jubilant celebration
of hard toil to gain the Blessing
of great international names...

But now the flame must leave the wick,
ready for glad recall,
and in quiet dusk is visualised,
the great power of joined Peace
ringing Earth with increased gold!
