Other tips:-
Once you begin to be able to recall atleast one dream a night you are advancing your chances of lucid dreaming dramatically.Recall dreams really is the first step and one of the upmost importance, some dedication to the cause of lucid dreaming is needed!!
The best time to lucid dream is generally when we take daytime naps, you'll probably if you have good dream recall have wondered sometimes why the dreams feel so different during the day, simply because we sleep lighter, so by default become a little more aware.
Try when you have a day off to wake yaself up a couple of hours earlier than normal, stay awake do some housework or gardening or something that keeps you in a wakeful state and then take an afternoon nap. In the afternoon you will probably find that before you fall off to sleep you have visual images/thougts etc enter your head, focus on your breath as you fall asleep and say continously in your head 'I am going to dream and become aware that i am dreaming' over n over again, if you loose your focus , just simply reign it back in concentrating on your breathe and again saying the intention clearly in your mind.
Also with this you can use a scene depicter, one of your choosing, get yourself relaxed, picture your scene wether it be getting on a bus and seeing the journey or meeting up with someone, and imagine it in your head in great detail, what youd say how youd meet, what theyd wear and just keep the image going with deep breathes, in the back of your mind knowing thhat once you see this person or thing or place, you'll know your dreaming, dont worry if at first you just fall asleep or if this method doesnt work because different techniques work for diufferent people this is just another strain of awareness and inducement, there are plenty others.
Try and make yourself aware during the days or anytime you can really, that it is your intention when you sleep to have a lucid dream, make sure your really adamant, i am going to become aware i am dreaming when im dreaming,
Other thing which many people strongly advise with lucid dreaming is reality testing, this is because obviously what we do on a conscious level is often carried over into our dreams, something again we can work with
Firstly just like with the intention, I WILL LUCID DREAM!!! lol, the reality test should be done as often as possible... throughout the day simply just ask yourself if your dreaming, then do a test to proove your not!! pinch yourself or whatever and then confirm your not dreaming, a very popular test is simply to read some text, look away then go back and read it, if the text has stayed the same your not dreaming, if the text changes thhen you are dreaming!! and on the road to lucidity.
