A Simple Prayer

 

How many ways is there to pray ?...

be humble to life's mystery

that we've been seeking throughout history

and reveal what one's heart wants to say.

Every morning when I rise

may my thoughts be of not what I despise

or fearful that I may fail

and keep my spirit in a jail

built on alibi's.

When all is dark may I be guided along,

by angels sent to keep me strong.

Reminding me when something's not fair,

that justice is waiting ... over there.

May I learn enough to teach

the child within my reach...

overcome the fear of being wrong

because others say it doesn't belong

with what they have to preach.

May the truth be my guide

when temptation tries to over ride

 Let my wisdom be ample

to set a fine example

and my spirit strong enough to abide.

May I lay down my head

at night when I am in bed

with peace that I've done my part

and faith from the heart

that I am doing right for the one's I've lead.
