Pre-course study - just kidding, but a little bit of the history of the pendulum can be found at this website:
http://www.sedonanewagecenter.com/newsletter/html/2002/cnanewsletter2-8.htm Pre-course assembly of goods LOL To get the most out of the workshop you will need some small everyday things other than your pendulum, if you don't have them, don't worry, no need to rush out and buy them, we are ever flexible, and I can adapt what I plan to do to suit - so just let me know:
First of all, of course, you need a pendulum, it can be either home made or shop bought ?in case you are worried that yours isn't 'spiritual enough' I looked up Pendulum in the dictionary - definition: A heavy weight hanging form a piece of string that can move freely via momentum or gravity?.so if you don’t have one, don’t worry, you can very easily make one.
A candle, some incense (or a scented candle)- for grounding and centering before you begin (just to make it extra special).
Some time by yourself where you can focus totally on the pendulum for a minimum of five minutes each day. (I practically guarantee that once you have got your pendulum to swing for you you'll be like and excited child with a new toy, and you'll get much more than 5 mins practice a day)
For the second half of the workshop - A pack of cards ?or a collection of simple pictures ?like the esp exercise cards (either regular or the christmas ones) if you want to print them out. A small pile of coins (5 or 6 coins of indetermined value is fine ?in any currency) One or two dice
Simple Pendulum Dowsing ?a little information
Pendulum dowsing is a useful skill and just about anyone can learn it. Basic dowsing gives a yes/no response to questions you ask. You can ask questions about anything, however you are likely to become less accurate asking questions that have too much personal importance for you. If you ask 'Does so & so love me?' your conscious mind will have an opinion and that will most likely influence the answer. Likewise dowsing lottery numbers, you'll probably be pretty keen to win and therefore lack the detachment needed to dowse with accuracy. (But it is great fun and a bit of a giggle to play games with your pendulum as you get to know it and work with it ?we’ll be doing some games as part of the exercises in the latter days of the workshop.)
How many of you mums out there tried the old wives tale and dangled a ring on a piece of string over your tummy or your palm to determine the sex of you baby? I know I did LOL ?this works on the same principle.
You need to understand that you are moving the pendulum - it isn't being moved by a spirit or your guides, you are communicating directly with your highest being, your inner self. Your subconscious self is connected to the ether and is working with your physical being and instructing tiny muscles in your arm to influence the movement of the pendulum. It really is an excellent way of accessing the wisdom of your Higher Self through these small muscle movements. Whilst you are learning dowsing it is best not to ask any 'heavy weight' questions. Dowsing is not infallible, but in skilled hands it can be remarkably accurate. Personally I don't make any momentous decisions based on what my pendulum tells me alone and pay attention to all the other guidance I am getting around me, animal totems, my gut feelings and any other guidance Charlie and my guides are giving me to confirm the results. Asking simple questions like, is blue the best colour for me to wear today, shall I meditate on my rose quartz crystal, am I being honest with myself about guidance I have received etc is a great way to use your pendulum to give you confidence in your abilities and raise your consciousness up a level so that more stuff can manifest itself for your development on your spiritual journey –its also an excellent way to build (dare I say it) TRUST in your abilities, when the pendulum wiggles, and you know the answer, there is no doubt at all in your mind that you are connected ?its very empowering!
So I thought I’d run through how the workshop will work:
Wednesday 9th Jan We’ll start with a short ground/centre reminder, and then I’ll show you how to charge your pendulum to you. That’s all you will have to do for the next day, sit with your pendulum for 5 minutes and empower it to work with you.
Thursday 10th Jan We’ll spend a little more time with our pendulum, and learn how it is going to respond to you, and I’ll show you an infallible way to find out if you are in the right space to work/talk with your pendulum. You’ll spend the next day practising this and really learning what each swing of your pendulum means.
Friday 11th Jan We’ll go over everything you have done and make sure everyone is happy and that they are getting their pendulums to respond. If anyone is struggling, I should be able to come into messenger and do a little one on one and try and help.
Saturday 12th Jan We’ll start to ask our pendulum questions ?defined questions that you know the answers too and make sure that we are all on about the same level.
Sunday 13th Jan We’ll ask our pendulums questions that we are not quite sure of the answers too, but that we can find out (perhaps by asking questions about each other ?this is why it is important that you can all commit to coming in and sharing your results, timezones andwhat times you can post don’t matter, so long as you can reply before the next evenings round of exercises ?if this isn’t practical, don’t worry, I can change tack a bit and have you all ask questions about me LOL)
Monday 14th Jan We’ll go over everything and make sure there are no problems ?its all about practice practice practice ?and start with some simple games with the cards/coins/dice
Tuesday 15th Jan We’ll play some more defined silly games and make sure everyone is happy with their pendulums
Wednesday 16th Jan We’ll finish up with an exchange of our experiences over the whole workshop and how we overcame anything that caused problems, and share any ‘enlightening?moments we had. Of those of you that like to journal at home, a couple of lines in your daily diary of how you are doing will be an excellent tool to look back on after a week - especially if you are totally honest with yourself about your progress and how you are doing.
For those of you that don't want a long involved gorunidng, here is...... A QUICK GROUNDING AND PREP EXERCISE Try it a couple of days before we start so that you get to know the 'feel' of when you are 'in the zone' as it were - don't worry if you can't feel anything at first, its all about intent, thought is deed.
Light your candle and burn your incense if you like Ground yourself. By far quickest and easiest way is to imagine tree roots growing down from the soles of each foot rooting you firmly into the Earth.
Next connect to your Higher Self through your crown chakra: visualise a bright white star above your head and draw a strand of it down through your crown. Now centre your energy fields: take your focus to your heart centre until you can sense this is where you are working from, try to give focus to your heart and your breath rather than being distracted by your head and random thoughts, you might not be able to shut off the chatter, but you should be able to feel connected to your heart and feel the difference to just going about your day.
We’ll cover charging your pendulum in detail on the first day. If you have any questions at all, please post them here and I will answer as soon as I possibly can.
