I have always been interested in the finer things in life. Well, I can’t really say always because that would include my childhood and my childhood was nothing but a horrible, horrible nightmare that came true. Okay, let me rephrase my original thought. I have been interested in the finer things in life since entering the world of professional wrestling. Fancy cars, lavish homes, expensive jewelry. It comes with the lifestyle of someone who is in the sports entertainment business. Hell, I am not complaining about the big, fat paycheck that I receive from the Aftermath, but I love coming back to my hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina to spend time with the friends that I have known since my high school days. I find it very rewarding to have those who stick with you through the good times and the bad times. It just makes them your best friends and I’m grateful for having that. I drive into the parking lot of The Nail Shop, one of Charlotte’s many nail salons. I find an open space near the entrance and park my Mercedes. I turn the key and shut the engine off before stepping out of the vehicle and pushing a little black button on my key chain, engaging the car alarm. I walk through the parking lot and push the glass door that leads into the nail salon as a little bell sounds, indicating the arrival of a customer.
Female #1: Hey, can somebody attend the customer that just walked in?
Female #2: I’m busy working on a pedicure here.
Female #3: I’ve got a manicure over here.
I couldn’t help but shake my head and laugh at how busy my friends always were in this place. It’s just too funny. I pushed the hood back and watched as one of the girls stepped out from the back part of the salon. She looked over at me. At that moment, her jaw dropped and her eyes widened as a smile spread on my face. It wasn’t one of those cocky little smiles either. This one was very genuine because I was very glad to see all my friends in this place.
Female #4: Angel!
She came walking towards me and wrapped her arms around me, squeezing tightly as I returned the hug. All the other girls looked up and were shocked to see me there. It has been a while since I’ve been around this place, and God have I missed it.
Female #2: Oh my God. It IS Angel.
Female #3: I can’t believe it.
Female #1: It’s been so long.
The other three girls came over and each of them gave me a hug. I returned each and every hug with a tight squeeze of my own.
Angel Evans: Well, it looks like you girls have been doing very well for yourselves. You seem kind of busy today. Should I come back another time?
Female #1: Hell no! We can always make room for our best friend. Besides, it’s been way too damn long since we’ve seen you around here.
Angel Evans: I know Veronica, but that’s my fault. I’ve been so busy lately with things. I’m really sorry guys.
Female #2: It’s cool Angel. We know that being on the road can be pretty hectic. You’ve told us that before so we understand what you’re going through.
Angel Evans: Thanks Vivi. I appreciate that. I thought Rosy was going to have a heart attack after she saw me.
Rosana: Can you blame me?! I haven’t seen you in months.
Angel Evans: I know. It’s cool. I’ve missed all of you so much.
Female #3: We’ve missed you too Angel.
Angel Evans: Thanks Amy. Where’s Ana? I don’t see her.
Veronica: It’s her day off today. It’s a good thing too. She had an argument with a customer the other day. I swear to you, Angel. I almost threw her out of here.
Angel Evans
: No way. What happened? Vivian: Well, the lady wanted to have her fingernails painted pink. Usually, customers choose the color they want by grabbing the nail polish bottle from that rack over there. She told Ana that any pink was fine with her. Mind you that the customer was on her cell phone through the entire manicure. Well, Ana chose like a carnation pink for her. She went on with the manicure while the customer yapped on her cell phone. Anyways, when Ana finished and the customer looked at the finished product, she got pissed off because, according to her, the color was too dark. She made such a big deal out of the situation and this upset Ana because the customer asked for pink. She never specified what shade of pink she wanted so Ana chose the best shade for her. She and the customer got into such a heated argument that Veronica had to step in.
Veronica: It pissed me off that this customer verbally insulted Ana, telling her that her work was horrible and that she should be fired. I couldn’t hear anymore from her and told her to leave my salon or the authorities will be called on her for completely berating and mistreating my employees. I’ll tell you one thing. That lady won’t be coming back here anytime soon.
Angel Evans: After that story, it wouldn’t surprise me if she doesn’t come back here again. I can understand what Ana went through. I have to deal with stupid people everyday in my profession so I can totally relate.
Rosana: I have never seen Ana so angry before. That was the first time I’ve ever seen such a huge argument between a customer and one of us employees.
Amy: I’m just glad Ana was able to cool off after that spat.
Veronica: I gave her the rest of the day off so that she can relax and not have to worry about work.
Angel Evans: That’s good.
Vivian: So what can we do for you, Angel?
Angel Evans: The usual.
The usual for me equaled gel acrylic fingernails. I love getting acrylics. They may be very damaging to my actual fingernails, but they look damn pretty and very feminine on me.
Veronica: Well, what are we doing standing around and wasting time for? Let’s get back to work, girls.
Vivian, Amy and Rosana returned to their attending customers while I took a seat at Veronica’s counter. She came around and sat behind the little desk as I placed my hands on the table and watched her getting started on my nails. Veronica noticed the ring on my left hand and looked up at me with surprise.
Veronica: Angel, did you get yourself engaged again?
Angel Evans: Yeah I did.
Vivian, Amy and Rosana: AGAIN?!?!
Angel Evans: Damn girls. Yes, I got engaged again.
Vivian: Who’s the lucky man?
Angel Evans: Jackson.
All the girls stopped what they were doing to look at me in disbelief. I turned to each one of them and noticed that they were not happy to hear the news.
Amy: Are you serious?
Angel Evans: Yeah I am.
Rosana: Didn’t he cheat on you with some other woman behind your back?
Angel Evans: He did.
Veronica: And you still got engaged to that asshole?
Angel Evans: Unbelievable, right?
Veronica: Damn right it is. What about Erick?
Angel Evans: He kidnapped my sister, Erika, and is holding her ransom until I decide to dump Jackson and get back together with him.
Vivian: Wait a minute. Run that by me again.
Angel Evans: Erick and his brother, Dominic, are holding my sister hostage until I dump Jackson and get back together with him.
Rosana: What makes him think that you’re going to get back with him after that stupid stunt?
Angel Evans: I have no fucking clue but I have to figure a way to get Erika back. God only knows what those two are doing to her.
I let out a deep sigh as thoughts of Erika being tortured flashed through my mind.
Angel Evans: I don’t want to put this situation in the backburner. I really don’t but I can’t lose any concentration when it comes to the match I’m competing in this Sunday.
Vivian: What kind of match is it?
Angel Evans: It’s an Extreme Elimination Chamber Match for the Women’s Championship.
Amy: I thought only men were allowed to compete in such a dangerous match.
Angel Evans: Apparently, that’s not true since I’m facing five other women for that title.
Veronica: We’ve got faith in you, Angel. After everything you’ve done in your career, you deserve that title belt.
Angel Evans: You girls understand me so well. I try to tell my opponents that, but they still believe that they have a chance at becoming the Women’s Champion. They don’t want to get the message that, at Vengeance, I’m going to become the first Aftermath Women’s Champion inside their stupid little heads. It really pisses me off.
Rosana: They’re in denial, Angel.
Angel Evans: I keep telling myself that. My opponents are in denial. They’re afraid of what the outcome is going to be in that match. I have no problem telling them the fucking outcome. In fact, I keep repeating it over and over again, but it doesn’t seem to want to stick in the hollow spaces inside their heads.
Vivian: Alright. List off the women you’ll be facing in this match.
Angel Evans: Well, there’s Blair Brooks, Desira, Kaylee Adams, Angelina Vaine and Kelly Stratus. You know, it’s kind of funny. All these girls seem to resemble a diva from the World Wrestling Entertainment. I guess if they want to idolize their favorite WWE diva, who am I to stop them?
Rosana: Let’s start with this Blair Brooks character.
Angel Evans: Blair Brooks reminds me of WWE’s Melina. Same look, same entrance, same everything. Don’t get me wrong. I imitate one part of Melina’s entrance when I’m on the ring apron, but I don’t copy the entire entrance. Be original. That’s why I try to do. Anyways, I haven’t seen much of Blair since she won her qualifying match a few weeks back on Raw. It’s like, once she found out that she was going to be inside an Elimination Chamber, she packed her bags and fled from the Aftermath. It wouldn’t surprise me either because Blair really doesn’t have what it takes to be inside that chamber or, what I prefer to call it, the metal death trap. In my personal opinion, I don’t see Blair as championship material. She does not have the skills that it takes to become a champion. How she won her qualifying match confuses the hell out of me, but once she steps inside that chamber, she will actually regret winning her match. The Elimination Chamber is not for everyone. It’s for those who have the ultimate drive and the most passion for the prize that awaits at the end of the match. That prize is the Women’s Championship and only one person deserve to hold that belt in her hands: me.
Amy: What about Desira?
Angel Evans: I have no fucking clue who that chick is. She is brand new to the company and has replaced Eryhen Adams in the match. I’m guessing Eryhen had other more important things to take care of since she decided to pull out of this match. Whatever. It’s cool though. I’ve got no problem facing that Desira girl. I really don’t see her as competition since she really hasn’t proven herself worthy of receiving a shot at the Women’s Championship. Apparently, the managers of the company had to stick somebody there in Eryhen’s place and they decided to choose a complete stranger. A nobody. I’ve seen stranger things happen in the company so I really don’t care. Desira needs to understand that she will not stand in my way of gaining access to my prize. If she does decide to stand in my way, then she will have to face the consequences.
Vivian: How about Kaylee Adams?
Angel Evans: The only woman that I actually consider competition in this match. I will not deny the fact that Kaylee has proven herself worthy at receiving a Women’s Title shot. Now, there is a difference in receiving a shot and actually winning the title. I think Kaylee doesn’t realize that I plan on stopping her chances of becoming the Women’s Champion. I may be wrapped up in other things that are going on in my life right now, but that doesn’t mean that I will lose focus on my goal at Vengeance. Nothing is going to stop me from ruining that pretty little face of hers. It wouldn’t surprise me if, after Vengeance, her husband refuses to look at her because of the damage that I caused to her face. It’s not my fault. She wanted to get hold of the prize and I stopped her by driving a weapon into her face and causing her permanent damage. When I want something, I will do whatever it takes to get it, whether or not it involves completely destroying the career of my opponent. I want that Women’s Title and no one is going to stop me from getting it.
Rosana: Next, Angelina Vaine.
Angel Evans: Oh my god. Where do I begin? This little girl got so pissed off that she lost her qualifying match. I heard that she went to management and begged to placed in the pay per view. I couldn’t believe that she got her wish to compete in this Extreme Elimination Chamber Match. This is another one who thinks she has a chance at getting the title. She will soon realize how clouded her little mind is when she watches my arm being raised in victory and I am handed the Women’s Title. I hate to burst the bubble, but Angelina is not qualified or will ever be categorized as championship material. Why? Just look at her and you’ll know what I’m talking about. She looks like she needs to be slapped around a couple of times in order to get the wheels turning in her head, and it looks like I’m going to have to be the one to do just that. Well, it’ll be my pleasure to completely humiliate Angelina in the ring and make her understand who the true Women’s Champion should be.
Veronica: Last but certainly not least, Kelly Stratus.
Angel Evans: Ah, the lesser of the Stratus sisters. For being Trish’s sister, the two look nothing alike. One is a blonde or at least I think she is and the other is a brunette. You need to wonder if these two are really blood related, but I could really care less. Kelly has been so focused on family matters that she fails to realize that she has to compete in a match this coming Sunday. I really wouldn’t mind if Kelly didn’t show up for the match. That’s just one less cunt that I need to humiliate in the ring. I don’t understand how Kelly wound up in this match. Honestly, it wouldn’t surprise me if she slept with Jackson to get a spot in the match. It seems like she has to sleep around to get what she wants, just like her sister, Trish. It’s so sad really. Spreading your legs is not going to make you become a champion. It’ll just make me sick because of the foul odor that will come out of there. Just thinking about it makes me want to vomit. Anyways, Kelly better pray to God that she doesn’t show up because she will be at the receiving end of a major ass whooping. If she happens to appear, all the better because she will definitely not be walking out of that chamber. She will have to rolled out on an ambulance stretcher, courtesy of me.
Amy: Do you think you’re ready for your match, Angel?
Angel Evans: I know I’m ready. I’ve never been more ready for anything else in my entire life than this championship match at Sunday. At this point in my life, I can safely say that this is the biggest match I have ever competed in, but I’m not worried. Better yet, I’m completely confident in myself that I will walk out of Vengeance with the Women’s Championship over my shoulder.
Veronica: We know you can do it, Angel. Check out your nails. What do you think?
I looked at the wonderful job that Veronica did with the acrylics. The tips were white and the rest of the nails a baby pink color.
Angel Evans: They look awesome Vero, as always. How much do I owe you?
Veronica: They’re on the house, girl.
Angel Evans: Are you sure?
Veronica: Positive.
I stood up from my chair and gave her a hug before going to each of the girls and giving them hugs as well.
Angel Evans: This has been such a blast, girls. I’ve missed you all so much and I’m really hoping that we can do this again sometime.
Vivian: We will the next time you’re in town.
Angel Evans: That’s a promise.
Rosana: We’ll be rooting for you on Sunday, babes.
Angel Evans: Thanks girls. That means a lot to me.
Veronica: Just bring that belt the next time you come around so that we can have a chance to hold it.
Angel Evans: No problem. I’ll see you girls. Take care of yourselves.
Amy: You too Angel.
I waved them all goodbye as I headed out of the nail salon. I walked through the parking lot towards my car as I pushed the little black button on my key chain to disengage the alarm. I opened the driver side door and stepped inside before closing it and sliding the key into the ignition slot. I turned the key and listened to the revving of the engine. I pushed a button near the door handle as the driver side window slid all the way down.
Angel Evans: Take a good look bitches. This is greatness personified. I’ll see you all very soon.
I pulled out of my parking space and sped out of the parking lot and onto the street as the scene faded to a close.
