I think you'll find that a great many movies are based upon plots from stories told since the dawn of time.
 
You mentioned Star Wars; that plot is among the oldest... the questing hero.  It's got swordplay, the damsel in distress, the evil villian, etc., etc...
 
I don't think recycling plots is a bad thing, old ingrediants mixed in new ways can create something completely different.
